We're going to spend a week in New Mexico (staying at Cloudcroft) and I'm curious about any insight that forum members can offer about the Inn of the Mountain Gods golf course outside of Ruidoso. I know Golf Digest listed it as one of the top 40 casino courses in the country.

Has anyone played it? Interested in any feedback.

You will have a great time. That is a beautiful part of the country. I've played courses in Las Cruces, but not Ruidoso. The Inn of the Mountain Gods, The Lodge course http://www.thelodgeresort.com/golf.cfm and Cree Meadow http://www.playcreemeadows.com/golf/...aycreemeadows/ are the best courses in the area.

I've been to Ruidoso a few times. It's been a while but I've played the Inn of the Mountain Gods course a couple of times and enjoyed it. It's a nice course.

The Links at Sierra Blanca is usually pretty nice when it is green and provides an easier test of golf. It's not a mountain course like IoMG, but still not a bad place to play.

One you ought to look into playing though is Rainmaker. You won't find much about it right now because it is a fairly new course, but it is in the mountains also(LOTS of scenery, lots of elevation change). It's private but if you play at a regular course or are a member of a CC, you should be able to get one of the employees to call and get you a tee time. I think the price was around $100, but then again, I think IoMG is even more expensive than that.

If you do go to Rainmaker...which I've dubbed "Tearmaker", keep your head up through the first 7 holes. After those, it gets easier...but I swear the first 7 holes make you want to give up golf (though they are beautiful =).
