To hit a golf ball the way I know how to hit it?

After lessons, and practice, and hitting great for a few days, Why do I always revert back to my bad habits? It took me 14 holes today to realize the reason I was hitting the ball so bad was because I went back to my 2 worst habits. Lifting my front heel on my backswing off the tee, and going back to a very steep swing with my irons.

I get so frustrated when I know how to hit a golf ball, but just refuse to do what I'm supposed to.

I know what you mean Bullitt5339. It's very frustrating at times. I'd suggest perfecting your swing by practicing off the course and at a golf range. There, you can focus on any changes and ingrain them so that they are more natural to you.

Someone said it takes 10,000 repetitions to achieve competence in anything. The golf swing is no different. Look how long it took top players like Faldo, Woods, Leonard to revamp their swings. Muscle memory is a funny thing.

actually, there's nothing wrong with lifting the left heel in the backswing. just ask sam snead.

And Phil Mickelson (right heel), Bubba Watson and so on.

A great shot is when you go for it and pull it off. A smart shot is when you don't have the guts to try it. ~ Phil Mickelson.
