Three weeks ago the hard drive on my 5 year old G5 desktop broke down - mechanical failure.

Tonight my EOS 1d Mark II N decided that the shutter had clicked it's last frame accurately. Now every other image has a solid line of white/overexposure through the middle of the frame. The camera has 45,000 actuations on the shutter. Apparently, you can't drive old computers and old cameras the way you could when they were new.

This sucks.

I have a HUGE photo shoot in 6 days...

Ahh yes, the hard drive in my G4 broke down with mechanical failure a couple years ago, it was not fun. It was replaced and the computer is still chugging along though.

Lol! Thanks! I've frozen & tried and re-frozen re-tried that hard drive.

My brother is a wicked smart Computer Scientist/Electrical Engineer - getting his PhD at Imperial College in London. I'm hoping he and his circuit genius brethren can help.

There are 2 types of hard drives out there. Those that have failed and those that will fail. Now for the word of the day... Backup!

Had a day like this last week. Dryer, mower and the recliner on the love seat all broke! LOL Oh well, in the grand sceme of things, these aren't a big deal!
