I been wondering this. I am usually a one wedge guy, unless i am playing a tight lie were i need less bounce.

my question is, i am thinking of buying a new set of wedges. My current iron set goes from 3 to PW basically. were my PW is 48 degrees. I am thinking of getting three new wedges, a 52, and two 56's. I am wondering if anyone else has ditched the lobwedge in place of two 56's. I don't realy need the lob wedge, i rarely find myself in the need for that much ups. Unless i am going out to the road hole at st. andrews.

Well i don't want a 60 anymore. I don't use it. So i thought i get two 56's, one with a lower bounce and one with a higher bounce. Then i can just use one or the other depending on how the ground surface is. Higher bounces are used for soft ground, to keep the club from digging.

get a 56 standard bounce (covers both lays of the land) and pick up a 60 or a 58...just doesn't make a whole lotta sense to buy 2 wedges when you can pay for one and play it on both conditions...or, allows you to put a hybrid in your bag if you want or need help with the gap between your 3W and 4I

If you can't think of any other club that you need, and you really don't like the LW, then why not? I've currently just got the PW and a 56/13 sand wedge and it's very rare that I really wish I had a lower-bounced 56. So if I were you, I'd just do the 52 and a normal (i.e., highish-bounced) 56 and save the $.

correct me if I am wrong, but how often do you really swing your 56 degree wedge at full swing that you are worried about distance gaps? I have found that anything beyond my pitching wedge really only works with about a 3/4 swing at most. anything more than that and I end up with alot of hosel rockets. Also, I have noticed very little difference in distance between a 52 degree and 56 degree, one just hits it higher.

My PW is also 48 degrees and my next lofted club is my 54 degree.....If I want to hit it a yardage between those clubs I usually just choke down on the PW and swing accordingly.....Good Luck and I hope you find what best works for you.....

I roll with a 52,56,60 and use them all frequently, You should aspire to be a short game shot maker and that requires tools... I would think of my set as incomplete if I got up to my ball and thought "well this would be much easier with a 60* wedge if only I hadn't bought two 56* wedges..."
