After looking at a lot of clubs I finally pulled the trigger on a set of Pro Combo Tours. I heard pretty good things about them and think they will be a club I can play with for a long time as I improve more. I wonder if these come with a better chipping and putting game...(the reason I still shoot in the 90s). They are in good shape and I look forward to getting out to the course with them. These will be my first brand name clubs, so I am pretty excited to start hitting them.

I am!
They are great... and provide excellent feedback in the short irons (blades) and acceptable forgiveness up top (full cavity back).
And... just as importantly... they look schweeeeet!

haha, awesome. Yeah I can't wait to get them, hopefully by wednesday or so i will be able to go out and play 18. I see you have the Rifle 6.0 shafts in yours. Mine are coming with TT DGS300 shafts. The same shaft was in some of the demo irons I hit and liked it much better than the no name regular shafts that were in my old irons. Do you use iron head covers for transport or will they stay pretty nice without them?

i used to...still miss them
i needed new shafts though a they only had the stock speedstep regular
it wasnt cost effective to upgrade the shafts, so i bought some MP 57's....

didnt like those at all, and picked up some CCi Forged irons brand new........LOVE THESE TO DEATH!
better than the PFC's for sure

originally wanted these but they PFC's were a bit cheaper

i truely think that any Forged Nike club is amazing and underrated

my story is very similar to enis750. played the pro combos for the last 4 seasons until i picked up some CCi forged irons this year. loved the pro combos, but love the CCi irons more. both sets had TT DGS300 shafts. nike forged irons perform awesome and IMO are the best looking clubs made. the looks alone sold me on the clubs. i believe a good looking club inspires confidence and is more important than just about anything else.

I demoed the CCis in cast because they did not have forged at the pro shop, but am wondering if the pro combos have a similar feel to the forged CCis?

I use head covers... but then, I'm just that kind of person... don't like 'dings'.
The metal is soft... I think it was the 4th or 5th round I played with them... was in the rough, had my trusty 7iron in hand, swung.... hit a small rock under my ball in the stroke... nasty scrape on the bottom now.
..... I bought head covers the next day.

I wouldn't use nike clubs if someone gave them to me. I will not give my hard earned money to the company that kept as their icon, that adulterous slimebag Tiger Woods.

because using those trusty headcovers would have saved that scrape on that swing????

there is a topic in tour talk, that you can go tell everyone how much you hate the worlds number one golfer....you know, cause he cheated at the game of golf...oh wait....he didn't .....

+1 I didn't ask for opinions on Tiger Woods, but thanks for the other responses regarding the clubs.

No, i know the headcovers wouldn't have prevented the scrape, but.... small leap of logic... showing the softness of the clubs, and hence need to protect them from clubhead to clubhead dings in the future.
In regards to preventing the scrapes..... staying on the fairway is highest on my priorities!..... Still working on that one!

Oh boy.

Anyway. I game the CCi forged irons and I love them. I have never hit the Pro Combo's. I will say I do love the look of them, however. They're not the easiest iron in the world to hit, but hitting them pure gives back such a sweet feeling. They do have more forgiveness than what they get credited w/, however. If/when I miss, it's off the toe and even then my shot will still be on target. It will be about ten yards short and leave a bad sensation in my hands, but on target nonetheless.

Yeah, this was what I anticipated, I would prefer the ball not go as far. Kind of a punishment that will force me to focus and relax. When I hit irons that have too much forgiveness I feel that I get a little lazy/cocky with my swing and will rush and/or overswing. Playing a round with the Mizuno MP-52s and 58s and a round with TM RAC LTs I have to focus more on what I am doing each shot and it gives me a better feeling when I do hit a ncie shot.

According to the seller, I should have these baby's in my bag by Wednesday. Hopefully they are delivered by the time I get back from student teaching so I can hit the range/course before dark : ) I feel like it is the days leading up to Christmas or something haha.

Yes, of course... Never mind that they are a huge company with hundreds of athletes on their staff...

Anyway, I love mine. Great clubs, and very forgiving. Even the blades in the set are hard to mishit. The shafts in these, what Nike calls "speed step" is a True Temper GS-95 shaft. I got them with the plain stiff shafts, as I like my iron shafts a bit softer. It's a great shaft, and I like it because I can keep the swingweight a bit lighter with them. They are very soft and have great feedback. I have them 2° upright, standard length.

    • Sounds about right. I forgot this place existed until now.

    • Day 82 (22 Jul 25) - played our church men’s group captains choice nine hole this evening.  Had a blast working green side shots with the wedges.  Love the format as I play a nine club bag which brings on shot creativity in a fun way.
    • Finished Bandon Trail today. Man what a course. Big upgrade over Sheep Ranch. I am giving Sheep Ranch a  7/10. Mostly views, course was good, and fun.  I am giving Bandon Trails 8.25/10. It's up there with Sand Valley in my opinion. Much more demanding of the course. With the wind it just gets brutal.  The first two holes are fully exposed to the wind, since they sit on the western edge of the course, open to the pacific. Even though it is tree lined, the wind has a big impact as it rolls over the hills and dunes. You can be surrounded by trees and feel the 20 mph wind at the tee box or fairway. I recommend using the yardage book, as it contains the course layout with a compass rose showing the prevailing wind (almost always from the north in the summer). It's easier to judge which direction the wind is going.  I played halfway decent. I hate when the shank gets loaded into the gun. Short game is on point, putting is good. I just need to make better swigs. My shot is definitely not built for wind. 😭 Here are some photos...
    • Would he not be entitled to unplayable relief and a one stroke penalty? And wouldn't the drop for unplayable plausibly be the same as the one he took?  That he cited the wrong rule and no penalty makes this a two stroke penalty instead of one? I'm assuming I'm wrong and there is a rule that prevents the player from reinterpreting his actions afterwards?  Regarding rule 14.7 - wrong place - and the general penalty. In this case, he gained a significant advantage by having an unimpeded swing? Shouldn't the penalty be for a "serious breach"? DQ?
