I obviously have a stroke that doesnt have my hands forward enough because I just went to the club to pick up a California Del Mar. I putted and the thing jumped then rolled out. I then tried 4 other SC models with the same result. Man, I love the look of thise things but they arent for me. Frustrating. I have an old Odyssey Rossi blade that I was looking to retire. Not happening now. I really would like to have a new milled putter though. Suggestions?

If you are dead set on a scotty, you can always have the lie/loft altered to fit your swing more when you order it through their website?

If you believe all the hype then Yes putters will stop the 'skidding' that you see and start your ball rolling sooner. Also I believe the new Nike method putters have the same characteristics.

Nike, Taylor Made, Yes!, and Rife all tout their putters are producing better roll. I don't find that my Scotty is any worse or better at rolling the ball than any other putter. It is more likely your stroke.

You say that but I took a Yes putter and my Scotty onto the putting green a few weeks ago when there was a lot of dew on the green and the ball traces started a lot closer to the starting point with the Yes. I even got both clubs checked for loft and both where the same, so I guess there maybe something to this lark.

Then there's your answer, get a Yes! putter instead of a Scotty. It obviously fits your stroke (and mindset) better.

What you are saying is correct, yes, but I don't always think the ball hugging the turf from the second it hits the putter face is good. I've heard a lot of people who say it is harder to control distance, and it seems to be true for me also. But if you like the look, feel, and performance of a roll-groove type putter, by all means get one. I like the Method (though I liked the Unitized more and still have one) and Rife makes some of the softest non insert putters out there.

He was nt the one looking for a new putter...I am. Come on man...this is about me!! I agree though that it is my stroke and not the putter. That is clearly the case or the tour wouldnt be full of them. However, I am a pretty good putter. I guess I have learned to function within my dysfunction. Maybe the ugly old Odyssey needs to stay in the bag. I really want a smooth rolling new putter though.

Perhaps the loft on SC putters are wrong for you. You can always get them adjusted to 5 or even 6 degrees.

Why stick with the old ugly Odyssey? Just try out their new ones, especially the high end black series and maybe you'll find your new soul-mate. Just don't get the Sabertooth or any of their high MOI mallets, lol.

I think 5 or 6 degrees is worse for me. I think I need less loft. The ball jumps not skids off the face on long putts. The Odysseys are 3 degrees and the Nikes appear to be 2 degrees.

Yep, the Scotty puts a terrible roll on the ball. It hops and skids all over the place. You need one of these fancy new "true roll" insert putters.

Scotty Cameron Studio Select Newport

Get the loft and lie adjusted accordingly (as you should with any putter) and you should be just fine.

If you have a putter that works well for you consistently, dont change it for something new. Every putter is different and if you have something that works for you, keep rolling it. I use an old ping g2i putter that I have used for years. It is the longest ive ever used a putter and have no reason to change. Heck my friend still uses his putter from high school and we are 30 now.

Consider trying a forward press like Phil Mickelson uses.

I don't think the ball jumps because its a Scottie, its something in your technique that doesn't agree with a putter with those specific characteristics; loft may be one of them.
