I currently game the irons in my sig. Standard length, lie. I just used Ping's fitting guide on the net... and I should be Brown dot (3 degrees flat) and +1/2 in. My arms are very long (wrist to floor only 31 in and I'm 6' 2"). Hopefully I can stick with the G5's, as I love them when I make good contact. I'll let you guys know how the fitting goes, I'm hoping I will stop digging the heel in to the ground quite as often as I do.

I was fitted for some G5s a few weeks ago. Pretty nifty process. I was blue dot, +1/2", stiff flex. Being 6'4", off the shelf clubs really weren't getting it done for me. I've been away on a trip for work since my irons came in so I haven't played with them yet but I'll be hitting the course on Saturday morning. Hopefully I will notice an improvement in my scores.

You need to be sure to do a dynamic lie fitting. 3° flat is a lot, and I believe Pings are more flat than most clubs, because I'm 3.5° upright in Ping clubs. Static and Dynamic lie fit are usually not the same, so it's important to hit from a lie board to make sure.

That's the plan. Like I said, I do have really long arms, and last time I was on a lie board (actually with a hybrid), I was hitting 2 degrees flat. But I'm definitely doing the lie board fitting. I'm working with my teaching pro (head pro at Purdue Univ.), not a salesman, so I'm sure the fitting will be thorough. But that is a good point Shanks and I'm going to follow through on that.

I play a club that is 3 degrees upright, had them bent from standard after buying them. The effect was nothing short of tremendous. I bet you'll hit the ball quite a bit better if you are truly 3 degrees off in lie.

I ended up with + 1" in length, and upright 1.5 degrees. Also am switching to the i10 in these specs for less offset and thinner sole, and also am moving to a stiff shaft. Puring everything. Amazing difference.

Well that sounds like quite a difference, good luck with the new clubs. I have already been fitted, but that was with my old irons. Should I be refitted for the Mizunos? Can I check Lie myself with impact tape?

Yup, mine was 2 degrees flat made all the difference in the world

Has anyone got a custom order made for Ping irons before? Do you know generally how long it takes them to build and ship to local pro shop after an order is put out?

The original measurement I wrote was wrong. I'm actually about 37.5 in wrist to floor (I guess I can't use measuring tape...). So upright does indeed make sense for me.
