It looks like the "man trip" this year will be split between Miami and the Keys. Can anyone make some recommendations for those areas? Preference would be to play in the Keys. My buddies don't play regularly so $100 + is discouraged. Just looking for some good values in the area.

sorry to say if you ever flew over the keys you'ld see there is like no f...kin land...the only pub course is Key West that is actually on Stock Island...very cool course, funky, mangroves, swamps, homeless guys selling golf balls...very keys. but it is in the $100 range. Ocean Reef in Key largo is super private, and Stock Island is a 2 hour drive past Key Largo but the drive is awesome.

My best pick in Miami Dade is Crandon Park on Key Biscayne. PGA quality with great views of downtown. Have fun! let me know if you need a 4th @ Crandon.

I agree with Phil that Crandon is an excellent course, but not close to the Florida keys. About 20 minutes north of Key Largo you have Keys Gate golf club. It's a decent course and available on golfnow.com at a cheap rate $35-$50

There's also Miccosukee in the Kendall area which hosts a Nationwide tour event. It's also available on golfnow.com... Enjoy!!

Key West Golf Club looks like a hole. That virtual tour is classic. A 30 yd wide netting hallway.

We've arranged plans so we could open up Miami and anywhere in the area. Any additional suggestions?

We're playing 2 days before a rate change of $110 to $60... SUCK. Won't be playing Crandon Park...

Here's some affordable, quality golf courses in the Miami-Dade & Broward area...

Country Club of Miami (36 holes) Miami Shores Miccosukee (27 holes) Grand Palms (27 holes - Pembroke Pines, FL) Hillcrest (Hollywood, FL) Pembroke Lakes (Pembroke Pines, FL) The last 3 courses are located just minutes north of the Miami-Dade / Broward county line... about 30 minutes from Downtown Miami.

LMAO yeah the Key's are definitely an aquired taste. As I said there is like no freakin land down there so the driving range is a hoot. The course is actually kinda cool but only if you're down there already...not worth the 8 hours round trip drive just to play golf. be sure to post the course & times, if I'm in town I'll play.

Great, out of all of these, could you rank the top 2 or 3?

never played Miccosukee, the indians never give discounts (they got casino money!) All the others are about the same..pick whichever one is closer to avoid traffic. Two other suggestions are Plantation Preserve and Jacaranda...Also the Inverrary courses are nice (the old Jackie Gleason AKA Honda Classic). Unfortunatly most south Florida courses all start to look alike after a few holes. No elevation, only ponds, palm trees and condos..

1. Miccosukee (Marlin & Dolphin) hosts Nationwide tour event every October... you can get a discounted rate on golfnow.com

2. Pembroke Lakes 3. Country Club of Miami (West course) Enjoy!!

I get down to Ft Lauderdale about 2 times/year. I really like Jacaranda and Inverrery which have already been mentioned. However, my favorite is Bonaventure.... specifically the East Course. The par three 3rd is one my most favorites holes I've ever played. The green sets on top of a waterfall and you can't see the surface. I may have a picture of it I can post.

I've played there. One time I bounced it off the top of the waterfall to ten feet. The green is right over it.

The 18th hole is nice. Short, but nice. And that's where I met Valeria from Big Break. She was one of the staff pros down there I think; she was putting on a children's clinic one day.

This looks great, checking into this course. Thanks for the update and pic! Looks like $89 for a weekend after 1 p.m.

Is there a reason the twilight rate starts so early? Most places I've played don't start a discount until 4 p.m. Most of the courses around Miami all start discounting at 1 p.m..

Im not sure about twilight rates, but I assue that it's because most of the golfing population in South Florida are older retirees. 1pm is practically dinner time for most of them

I met her too Eric... very classy lady. It's funny, just about an hour ago I posted about meeting her at Kiva Dunes in Alabama. It must have been Bonaventure after all.

I used to live about 5 minutes from the Keys Gate Golf Course. It is just off the exit before heading to the Keys via US-1. Ocean. Other than the course in Key West I don' know of any courses other than Ocean Reef. Ocean Reef is awesome, my boss is a member there, but you can't get out there unless you are a member or guest of a member, and/or a member of the top 1% of the tax bracket. Redlands Golf Course is about 20 minutes north of Keys Gate. It isn't as nice but rounds are usually in the 30-40 dollar range. These are the only courses close to the US-1 Keys Route.
