Welp, the AP2's are a fine club, they feel really great as a forged club is supposed to feel, but I found myself thinking this " you aren't getting any younger, you've been at 3 handicap for 2 years, miss hits are going to mess that up, you don't shape shots enough, you're not as good as you once were, but good enough to beat the boys at the club and wins bets, so the AP1's would be the prefect fit for you"

Needless to say I stopped playing my round on the 7th hole and hit my local shop, had a set of AP1's bent 2 degrees flat, with Nippon NS pro-105Tstiff shafts, and hit the range, perfect shot after shot, even hit the 4i a solid 190 yards and for me that's all I needed to know

I would highly recommend the AP1 for mid HCs, and AP2s for lower HCs, and would have stuck with those myself if I was 10 years younger, LOL

What do you mean by this? It has been very well established that the notion of forged clubs having better feel is a myth.

Also, your post seems to indicate that you really should have got the Ap1s. doesn't it?

Hey OP,

I don't quite understand your post. You're a 3 handicap, which is a ridiculously low handicap. But you say AP1s are a better fit for you even though you recommend AP2s for low handicappers. So your post seems to contradict itself. I'm curious because I'm about a 13 handicap and looking to buy AP2s. Please let me know what your thoughts are and also let me know how much you paid or where you bought them. I have a new thread with this question: http://thesandtrap.com/forum/threads...e-sites-legit- !. Thanks, Jae

He didn't hit the AP2s as well as the 1s. I give him a lot of credit for swallowing any pride and going with a higher game improvement club because he hit it better. As far as his comment on forged feel, I agree 100%, what makes it myth? If you feel that forged feels better, or cast feels better, it is a preference.

Do a search on this site. The manufacturing process has zero bearing on feel. It is a matter of fact, not opinion.

Hey OP,

It's about comfort. When i was fishing for a new set of irons, I tried a bunch of muscle back blades because thats what I used to play back in high school. Sure I may have been able to hit muscle back blades but the consistancy I get from a set that is a bit more forgiving is worth more for me than looking cool with a set of muscle back blades.

I went with my Callaway X-forged which has a similar profile and feel to a blade but the slight cavity is much more forgiving than a true muscle back. With a lot of amateur players, there is this huge desire to 'graduate' into blades. Play what you are comfortable with. Not necessarily what is easier to hit, but what is fit for you and your game.

Yes, and that's what I'm using now, AP1s ....... my reality check indicated "go for forgiveness"

The AP2s do feel much better (when struck well), however my confidences level goes way up on the AP1s

interesting, did you have alot of mishits or something with the ap2's. when I was hitting the ap1's and ap'2 at the range I just thought the ap2's felt better.

No, I would say it had to do more with age and confidences than anything else

hmm alright, well I want to go out and try them again on the range. I want to try the ap1 ap2 and muzuno mp58. Does anyone know if the local golf store will let me take a club for a day to the driving range? Do they normally do that type of stuff

At my local course I was actually able to hit the demos out on the course during my round. After I settled on one I took the whole set out with me. That was the ideal situation.
