I did that very thing (chopping off 2"), with a Karsten Anser 2, coincidentally.

I don't think that is absolutely true. I've always putted by choking down on the grip, and when I tried a shorter shafted putter, it felt weird... I felt like I had no control at all. It's like I need that couple of inches sticking out for a counter-balance or something. Anyway, with putting it isn't a good idea to mess with something that works. Fix what's broken, but don't mess with what ain't.

That's kind of a worry for me, too. While in the shop I putt fantastically with the 33" Anser, I putt reasonably well with my Wilson mallet as-is. It'd be a shame to lose that...

How do you possibly figure that 30 putts is par??? The way the course is designed to be played is hit the green in regulation, then 2 putts. That sets par for putting at 36 for a typical 18 hole course. You may think that an acceptable

Like I said, TECHNICALLY (officially) 36 putts is par. You say if card says 72, then par is 72. That's right, but you play the par 4 from 400. Not from 180.

Much of time we play onto the green, we play onto it from inside 10 yards. So, I don't see how you can play a par 3 from 10 yards. Every time we miss a green, the likelihood of a one putt increases... if you follow my poor explanation... lol Fair enough if you want to call 30 putts and acceptable average, but I think we're talking the same thing here.
Based on my last 3 rounds, 27 putts per round would have been 73, 72, and 70 strokes.

You (all golfers) need to practice with purpose, otherwise any practice will be boring. I basically use just 3 drills. (2 mostly). The most important one to master is the 3-5 foot putt. That "missable" range.

I go to any cup on the practice green, preferably one on a bit of a slope about it, and put 5-7 balls around in in a circle about 3 or 4 feet from the cup. This way you'll get to practice ALL types of putts! Fade putt, draw putt, up hill/down hill, left to right etc. btw, this is the only range I use the aim line on the ball... But that's just me talking.

    • I mean there has to be some thought. For eg., something like 'soft knees and wrists' at set up and maybe a dynamic 'left arm to chin' as a trigger to start DS. I have these one or two anchor thoughts and have served me well. In fact, my wildest swings are the one where I have no thoughts or if I forget to walk thru my anchor thoughts. In contrast my best rounds are where I am consistent with the anchor thoughts.    OTOH, if I am running my entire half hour lesson (hypothetical) with some pro that I had last Saturday or whatever before every swing then I'm probably in trouble before I even get over the ball.
    • Two bits. Bit 1 The NCAA's appeal of Brendan Sorsby being granted a temporary injunction will not be heard until February, so there will be nothing to prevent Sorsby from playing the full season and potential CFP.  Bit 2 The Big Ten Conference will hold a meeting and is expected to ban all of its athletic programs from playing Texas Tech in the regular season. Georgia has done the same. The SEC will meet to consider a similar ban. Fellow Big 12 members TCU and Kansas State are spearheading a similar ban, but the conference charter might not allow it. Meanwhile, Big 12 athletic directors are meeting this week to explore what options the conference might have.
    • No, but I'm also in disagreement that golfers have no thoughts over the golf ball, and/or don't ever think I've met someone I truly believe is thinking nothing but "target" or something on most shots.
    • StuM,  I have, in the past, added a left handed club. (Ususally a 7 iron) However, I usually take a stroke penalty and move the ball to where I want it.  I play for fun and in a pinch can use theback side if my club if I don't want the penalty stroke.    RetiredOldMan,  Terry
