Since last year I have gained 20 yards all around my disances are as follows:

Driver- about 270
3 Wood- about 250
2 hybrid- 230
4- 210
5- 200
6- 190
7-180
8-170
9- 160
PW- 150
GW- 135
SW- 115
LW- 100

Im am 17 6'1 and 220 pounds, honestly I find it scary that I am hitting the ball so far at a young age. Has anyone else had a similar experience to mine?

Please no comments that are you dont hit the ball that far.

Yes. Except mine is a tad more extreme. On a smooth swing, our iron distances are the same. I've actually forced my 7 up to 200 twice this season. But that's more because of my swing. As far as growth is concerned, I've probably gained 20 yards with the woods this season over last season.

My only answer is we are in puberty and we keep getting stronger and our swings keep getting better.

You are my clone, though i go at it probably a bit harder than you. My irons are a bit longer than you, and my driver is longer to. But i am 6'1" and 225.

The year i made my highschool golf team i was hitting it 260-270, next year i was out there 280. I use to weight 270 and just throw my weight around the ball, but i slimmed down and gained back some muscle to compensate for lack of lateral weight momentum into the ball. Now i can crank them out there pretty good.

My guess is that you do "go at it harder" than me because I asked the people I got paired up with if it looked like I was swinging really hard because I was trying to make sense of how far I was hitting the ball and the said it looked smooth and I was making really good contact.

Oh mannn that is terrifying. I wish I could that far consistently.

In all honesty though, you guys aren't much of outliers as you think you are, if those are accurate distances. There are two guys on my highschool team that can drive our first hole consistently, par4 345 (it is a dogleg though, so it's more like 300 yard drives). Almost everyone on our team can come close to 300 yards if we give it our all in the right conditions. But I also realize what my average driving distance is, right at 250 yds, and I'm one of the shorter hitters on our team. When you become a good ballstriker, and have a reasonably efficient swing, it's really not that impressive to hit it 270. It's much more impressive if you can hit it 270 and straight, consistently

You should be hitting the ball the furthest in your teens, where you are the most flexible, and most likely the strongest because you have time to go to the gym and lift and what not. I'm sorry I lied, I really wasn't all that scared when I read your post. I just peed myself a bit.

    • Day 34 (14 Dec 25) - Got outside for a few moments to work on bump and runs with the 4h (again using the exaggerated weight shift reminder of the left (lead) heel). Finding that it helps keep the downswing arc extended.

    • I am currently playing a Cobra Ltdx LS 9 degree driver and Cobra Ltdx LS FW3. Both with Tensei White stock stiff shafts and original weights of 12g (heel) and 3g (toe). My miss is usually a pull fade or sometimes a slice, swing is out to in. Driver swing speed about 112 mph. Grips are stock regular. Intended change: Driver: Switching to Tensei White x-flex one inch shorter which I suppose would be 44,5? Changing heel weight to 18g. Changing grip to Golf Pride Z-grip cord midsize. Change hosel setting to standard draw. FW3: Changing heel weight to 16g (apparently not available in FW weights, but supposed to be something called "internal weight" a club builder can add which fits between the weight and the screw?). Change grip to Golf Pride Z-grip cord midsize. Changing hosel setting to standard +1. The goal is to 1) get better grip since I tend so lose grip in warm and moist conditions with the current grips and 2) mitigate the misses to start more straight with less side spin. Also considering adding the Cobra Ltdx LS FW5 instead of my old Taylormade R9 and getting 14g heel and 6g toe weights with the same grip as the others and hosel setting standard +1.   All of the above is based on conversations with ChatGPT and, as everyone knows, it can come up with pretty much whatever but I spent a few hours asking about different perspectives etc and this was the recommendation. So, my question is basically, does it make any sense?   Thanks.
