Why can't it be like this all the time?

Two rounds this weekend (one was a charity outing). I was so happy with my ball striking overall.

It was just that type of round where the swing felt really loose and nice and I could 'feel' exactly what I needed to do to produce the shot I wanted with all of my clubs. Most telling was the fact that I could swing out of my shoes with the driver and knew that the shot was going to be long and exactly what I wanted before I hit it (I don't normally try to swing ridiculously hard but we played a charity shamble yesterday and I was delegated the 'big hitter' role off the tee).

Now the downside. My ball striking this past weekend has raised my expectations for scoring this weekend and I'll put extra pressure on myself to do well (this also tends to happen now that my work schedule only allows me to play once or twice every other weekend). I'd go to the range during the week to stay loose but I'm afraid I'd mess things up. On the other hand, I'm also afraid not to go to the range for fear of losing my rhythm!

Don't you wish you could keep your good swing somewhere safe and could guarantee that it'll be ready for you when you need it? Why does golf hate us so much?

believe me, i know what you mean. after bringing my handicap down to a 6 last summer, i have yet to play a good ballstriking, consistent round this year. that's why you should devote time to reading and watching videos to truly understand the mechanics of your swing, so you don't have to rely on luck. cause really, that's all it is if you don't know why you're doing something good or bad, you don't know how to repeat it, or keep from doing it.

I often wish that!! But I also think "Well, if I can hit a ball this good now, I know it's within me to be able to do it consistently"

what bothers me is that feeling after hitting a GREAT shot and thinking, crap what did I just do? Often times I think I just let my muscles do the swinging and everything works fine, but then I try to reproduce and start to analyze the swing, which inevietably ends badly.

In my bag:

some golf clubs

a few golf balls

a bag of tee's some already broken the rest soon to be

a snickers wrapper (if you have seen me play, you would know you are not going anywhere for a while)

and an empty bottle of water

Hit a lot of wedges and short irons. When your ball striking is on, you'll have a lot of wedges into greens. Focus on your distance control and just ride the wave!!

Good luck!!

Haha, yeah once you start hitting it well, you just think "why can't I do this every time?". But you know, even if you don't swing well you can still put up a respectable round. That's what I think of when I lose it anyway. But like sean_miller said, ride the wave! Don't be scared to lose it because you know it's going to go away sooner or later.
