Iron Price Suggestion

My buddy just got some Victory Red Tiger Woods Blades with project X 6.0's all the way across. He still has them in the plastic and I guess decided to sell them without ever hitting them once. Anyway, he said I should offer a price, but I'm not exactly sure what a good one is. What do you guys think? Is $700 too little?

At your handicap level, unless they're fit for you, $700 is way too much. In fact, for clubs that don't fit you, even if you were a 36 handicap, it'd be too much. You aren't looking at spending much more than that for a fresh set.

Don't get me wrong: those are great clubs and great shafts. But if you're willing to spend something like $700 on a set of irons - which is a fine price for the right set - you should get the ones that fit you.

I'd be surprised if your friend couldn't return them to a store if they're new and in the packaging.

I agree with the poster above. For $700, you are getting dangerously close to a new custom set of clubs. Then again, it could be that those VR blades are close as is, perhaps just needing a lie adjustment...

However, things like length, grip size and shaft selection are all variables that could be fit to you on a new set. Some guys love PX's, some guys dont. Are those shafts flighted, and do you know what type of shaft you'd want in an iron?

yep, $700 is waay to much for those
although they are brand mew, I found some for the $450-550 range slightly used and some in the plastic

if the shafts are what you want, you can have the lie's adjusted etc. and grips changed to what you want for relatively cheap (as delav mentioned)

I'd bite for $600 to compensate for any changes you need to make, ie lie, grips, etc. Either way, I'd hit them and see how you like them. Might be worth saving a couple hundred for a brand new one if the stock irons fit your swing well. I purchased my X-forged irons for $700 without getting fitted and I'm happy with the stock lie, length, etc. Saved some money for a nice set of irons.
