Thinking of picking up the new one this year and thought it could either help or hinder my swing. Any body got opinions based on experience of whether this would be good to practice your real life swing. Or did you buy the game and find that your swing doesnt perform well in the game thereby making the game no fun and giving you a crap swing on the course.

I have Tiger Woods 2009 for the Wii and I'm not sure if 2011 is much more realistic but you have to take it for what it is, and thats a video game. As far as video games go its very realistic and fun to play but its not realistic enough to being like a real golf swing. I personally don't see it as an off season training aid.

I have 2010 with the Wii Motion Plus as well as 2009. 2010 is much better as far as game play is concerned, but if you are wanting to improve your ball striking it will not help you. I'm not sure if it will hurt you though unless your swing habits migrate over to your real swing.

One aspect of your game that it may help though is course management. If you learn to play the game using more accurate club yardages and making smart shots to stay out of trouble I could see some benefit.

Don't look for it to help your swing, but I wouldn't count on it to hurt your swing either, unless you can't compartmentalize your Wii swing from your real swing.

Two years ago you just had to whip the controller in a straight line of your choice to "produce" a decent golf swing - e.g. like playing darts.

Its what you make of it, but you won't get your real swing feedback in the sim. Course management? Sure, Pebble Beach, St. Andrews, ... Just go, have fun and enjoy the sites...

I stopped playing this game on the Wii back in 08. The putting was too flawed and tap ins would always bounce out, even with the auto tap in.
