Help ..... 3W from the tee ....

I want it almost in the middle of the face of the club, which means I tee it up just above the grass, like I would with a short iron. I don't want to set up in a way that I'd have to compensate to hit the ball properly. Skying the ball is a result of too much loft at impact, not hitting down on the ball. Too much loft can be caused by flipping the wrists or bottom of the swing behind the ball.

The average angle of descent with the 3 wood on the PGA Tour is -3 degrees, which means they do not in any way swing up on the ball. If you tee the ball with half the ball above the club face, you could risk lifting up just in order to hit the ball square and popping it up.
