Okay guys, I just started playing last July so bear that in mind. I bought the Adams A3OS Complete set as my starter set and overall am pretty happy with them. My immediate area of concern is the 5 and 4 hybrid. I would say my swing is decently consistent all things considered. My problem is I CANNOT hit these two clubs AT ALL!!!!! So out this weekend, I borrowed a friends mizuno 4 iron on all my 4 iron shots and hit it pretty well.

So two questions, first, am I crazy for not hitting the hybrids?

Second, I'm looking for a 4i and 5i to replace the hybrids. Given all facts, what club would you recommend and why?

Last note, the clubs I have now are graphite. Should I stick with that or go steel? Thanks!!!!!

I would say you are doing very well and I would suggest that you order a set of the mizuno irons your buddy has as you are much improved and sound ready for them

Well, I'm certainly not ANYWHERE near ready for a new set of clubs but thought this might be a great opportunity to swing a few and I was just trying to narrow the list. Thanks for the shout of confidence though!! haha

My friend at work switched from tennis to golf a couple of years ago, and has the Adams Pro Launch boxed set. He likes all his clubs, except for the three hybrids. He has tried ball position changes, but nothing has worked.

First remedy seems to be: hit down on hybrids like an iron, don't sweep like a wood.

Also, a particular hybrid may not fit your swing. I tried a hybrid in spring 2009, had real problems, and now carry a 5W. In March, however, I tried some Callaway Diablo and Adams hybrids, and they worked reasonably well - just not as well as my 5W.

Set Switchout: You might stay with your current clubs until you start breaking 90. About that time, custom-fit clubs would actually help your game. For short run, try to find a non-Adams 4H in the used-club bin that hits OK.

Focus, connect and follow through!

My advice - keep practicing with the hybrids. Took me a little bit to get used to hitting them - but now - i would not give them up! The secret is to swing them like irons. That sounds simple enough, but looking down on them at first I think they resemble a wood so much that the natural tendency is to swing them like woods. I play them slightly further up in my stance and make sure i stay down on them with a good follow through ... Keep at it and it will come around.

It could be the hybrids just dont suit you. Ive personally never liked hybrids all that much. I just dont are for them and dont hit them as well as I do irons.

for me it depends on the day as to how my swing is going...hybrid for me could be really good and other days could be a slice maniac...my 4i is comparable to my 3h so it all depends on the lie, how wide the fairway is, etc...

With a hyrbrid I tend to slow down my tempo on the back swing and come through like I would hit my 4i and some times it works some times it doesnt...I feel what you're sayin' though, I do have more control and accuracy with my irons then my hybrid...Just keep practicing them since those A3OS are basically all hybrid irons....
