I haven't seen many folks from NH posting on the forums so this may be futile. However, I am looking for a new instructor in the Southern NH area (I am in Manchester and play in Goffstown). I am still very new and having a tough time with many fundamentals so I need a lot of help in this area. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I am not happy with my current club pro nor my dad who keeps yelling at me to "lock my wrists" every time he sees me swing. Thanks.

Are you coming down to the Golf Evolution clinic in Boston next month? That could be real good way to get started on some basics!

No, everything I have read on Stack and Tilt suggests it is for players who already have a solid grasp of the fundamentals and have been playing for awhile.

I would respectfully submit that's not the case. Take a look at Dave's YouTube channel and you'll see he has several clips showing how quickly complete beginners can taught crucial components of an effective swing, like descending on the ball and being in a strong position at impact. You certainly don't have to adhere to the entire swing method to benefit from its emphasis on these and other solid fundamentals.

Ok Stretch, I will give it some more thought and research. I read the quote below on a Wiki site and it admitidly discouraged me a bit from learning more about it at least until I was playing golf a bit better.

This is also one of the hardest golf swings for beginners to learn correctly and there by have an effective shot, but once learned it is very repeatable. *It is a good idea to have a good working knowledge of a golf swing before you try this method.

As Stretch said, that's not entirely true. In fact, many would say that it's a great pattern designed for helping beginner type players achieve the best results the quickest.

Our recent school at Whispering Woods had several people who took up the game inside of one year. I know another guy who took up the game last winter and is shooting in the mid-70s now. Another I know took up the game a year ago and is a scratch golfer. You should seriously consider the Boston school. There's only one or two spaces left. P.S. You posted while I was writing. Suffice to say I disagree - 100% - with that wiki site, whatever it is. The opposite is more true than what it says.

What about ones level of fitness, does one have to be in any better shape compared to learning the "traditional" swing? It appears there is more rapid turning of the hips involved and I don't have the best flexibility right now.

If anything, there is less twisting and heaving -- because you are learning to swing on a simple inclined plane and not trying to coordinate big weight shifts backward and forward.

Hey Shank, how old are you by the way ? I am in Southern NH as well and play out of Crotched mtn. I have a lot of connections in the area so I would be happy to hook you up with the right guy based on what you are looking for.

Thanks Juice, I'm 38 in a couple weeks. I usually hang out at Stonebridge in Goffstown because my dad plays in a league two nights a week there and I'm his taxi driver. I had one lesson with Matt Madore, the club pro, but I wasn't too impressed. I'm likely going to go to the Boston class on the 6th, just waiting for Erik to answer my PM to confirm.

Great. See you there. If you don't get something good out of it, I'll eat a Red Sox hat!

Shank, I will respectfully disagree with the idea of learning stack and tilt. As far as Matty goes, I know what you are saying, nice guy though. Let me poke around with all the pros in the area to see who is the best at your level of play.

If you could please share more about your reasoning behind this, either here or in a PM, I'd greatly appreciate it. Yeah, Matty is a very nice guy.. I get along with him great along with most of those from Stonebridge and the ex-Stonebridge folks who are now at Amherst.
