Where can I find grips with ridge?

Hi,
I used to have a set (Ben Hogan Apex) with grip with ridge about 10 years ago on. I believe it wasn't stock grips. And I had a chance to hit few balls on Titleist AP2 set from a KPGA tour golfer and the set's grip had the ridge. Now I have Mizzy mp57 and would like to change grips on them and want the M21 grip with ridge. Where can I find grips like that? GolfGalaxy told me only Ping grip has one for their shop. I thought it can be made when grip is replaced. Anyone?

They're called "ribbed" grips, and you can get many grips in either round, or ribbed. The style I use, crossline, for example, comes in ribbed.

Golf Pride makes ribbed grips, also if your pro shop is good, they can make any grip ribbed, if they can't find another shop

GolfSmith has them - Golf Pride's 'Tour Velvet' line comes in 'ribbed' (for your pleasure ). I'm sure other brands have them, but I'm a 'Tour Velvet' fan for feel plus durability.

I have ribbed grips on all my clubs, except for my sand and lob wedges. I don't put ribbed grips on those because I like to open the face, close the face, etc for certain shots and then the rib doesn't really serve it's purpose of reminding you where your grip should be. It seems to get in the way on those types of shots.

The guy at GolfSmith (really helpful), told me that if you look inside the small end of the grip there is a number and a letter. The number is the 'core size' and the letter (if there is one) will be an 'R'. Here's where it gets tricky... the 'R' does NOT stand for Ribbed! The 'R' stands for ROUND. My guess is at first Golf Pride's line of grips was only one or two models and most were ribbed, so they used the 'R' designate ones that were 'round'.

Anyway... that may be more than you wanted to know, but I found it interesting. Here's a link to Golf Pride's site that has a run-down on diameters and ribs for the 'Tour Velvet' line.

btw - outside diameter is important, too... get one club done with a regular and another, a 7 and an 8 for instance, done with an oversize or undersize grip (depending on which way you're leaning) and try them out. You'll find that the oversize might straighten your shots out a bit (if you tend to hook it) or a smaller grip size might help you draw it a bit more if you tend to push it. You can also build up with tape, too.

I have Golf Pride Tour Velvets on my irons, and I asked for a rib when I was fitted. Is a ribbed grip just a regular grip with a special insert in it? The back of the grip just says Tour Velvet.
