In my 3 full years of play I've experienced the extreme highs and ridiculously upsetting lows. This past month has been just that. Going into the season, I started out at a 4.3...having finished strong last season.. this year it seems the more I understand, the more I over-think and the more I f*** up. In just 2 weeks I've gone from a 4.3 up to a 5.5.

So for the scratch players out there, does your HC fluctuate that much? I just can't believe I jumped up more than 1 pt in a 2 week period. Sure it's just a # and my anti is going down...but it just kind of sucked seeing it recalculate and going up over a 5 after I worked so hard to get it below that #... and the goal of my 4th season was to get it down to a 2 or better

I started the year at a 5.7 and am now a 6.7. I feel like I'm playing better more consistant golf this year, but I have some really good rounds that are dropping off my score record recently and that is why mine changed so much.

If you post enough scores you can drastically change your index between revisions especially if the quality of your play is fluctuating. Posting a single score can alter it quite a bit too. If you have a play-out-of-your mind score (calculated difference around 0) at the 20th position and you post a mediocre score that pushes it off your handicap could increase almost 2 points (having to trade your 0 for a 10, say).

Bottom line: don't worry about it.

Exactly - my index will likely fluctuate between 5.6 and 9.6 this year depending on where I get my rounds in - I shoot about the same score wherever I play.
