I'm not a great ballstriker, but haven't seen much of a difference really. Depends on what you compare it to also. Balls fly different depending on trajectory and ball speed, so a ball that fit me might not fit you.

I don't get it... what's the point of this poll? You don't seem to be comparing to any other balls in particular, nor are you asking anyone to post what ball they are comparing it to. It doesn't seem to me that any useful information can be gathered without those details. You haven't even asked if the E6 is longer than some other balls, which I would certainly imagine that it must be for some players.

I tried the new 2010 e6 on my last two rounds. I noticed no distance loss as compared to the balls in my signature. In my first round, I noticed it rolled out more than anticipated. In my second round, I was able to stop the ball. The greens were pretty hard in round 1 and fairly soft in round 2. So I'm thinking the truth is somewhere in between. I did notice less side-spin on my drive as advertised. Although I could still slice it nasty if I really missed :) All-in all, the jury is still out. But I'm leaning towards making it a regular in my bag.

I find it to be comparable in distance to other balls I have played. I really like the ball... although they advertise it as lower spin (anti-hook/slice), I have no real problem stopping it on the greens I play and you can definitely still hook or slice it.

That all depends on a players swing speed. A player who has the swing speed to get the benefit from a Pro V1 will hit it at least as far as an E6, and will score better because the Pro V1 is more controllable around the green. I play the TM Penta TP and it is just as long for me as the E6. My swing speed is around 95 with the driver. I like the E6 until I get close to the green, then the lack of shot options shows up big time. It really can't be spun significantly with a short pitch, and there are times when I need that shot.

Your conclusion is based on incomplete or invalid data, and this poll won't help that deficiency.

I think it is difficult to quantify ball distance since our swings and conditions vary significantyly day to day. We have warm humid weather now. I suddenly get 10-15 more yards, partly because we middle aged types benefit from the warmth and ball carry is greater in warm humid conditions. I believe that ball distance varys with how much you deform the ball, cover and dimples construction. With the longer clubs if your swing speed is not enough to deform the ball then the cover is more of a factor. If you hit a soft ball the deformation apears to limit spin so the softer cover doesn't result in excessive spin. If you don't spin the ball enough a harder ball with a soft cover might spin most and be best, a slicer might benefit from a soft ball with a hard cover, etc. The different factors and niches are why so many balls can claim to be the longest. Of course needs change on shorter shots. I think the multilayer balls are attempts to reconcile these factors. If you look at ball offerings this seems to match up. Lacking solid science or engineering knowledge I may be way off.

I think you have hit on a lot of the reasons why this poll is useless. There are so many more factors than just which ball is longer that it takes an extensive and comprehensive testing regimen to make any sort of a definitive analysis. The OP may find that the the E6 is the longer ball for him (it would be for me too against the Pro V1), but that conclusion changes depending on a lot of factors.

It was the last hole of a par3 course we were playing
Hit it solid 4 times, twice with a prov dead on twice with an e6 (thought they were provs before i dropped them) E6s were deep
That's what i'm basing it on
Obviously this isnt a robotic arm 1000000000 ball test
But its what i'm basing it on saying that there is a difference.

Fourputt,

You are right and this poll is not meant to be a scientific measurement of ball distance based on any laboratory robotic swing, and this is why i'm not comparing it with any particular brand of ball. I originally posted this thread in the Golf Talk and it was meant more for casual information/statistics gathering. I have come around some of the post before mentioning that e6 seems to lose some distance and i just want to confirm whether this is true before i give it a try. I guess i was too simplistic to think that if of out 50 people who played it, 45 of them are good and 5 are losing distance, then this myth may be busted.
