I've been looking for a stand bag. For some reason yesterday I decided to visit the local Goodwill (I admit it--I'm a cheapskate, I was hoping someone had donated a decent used bag). I walk back to the golf equipment and I noticed a blue bag that even from a distance looked to be in great condition. I get to it and it's an Ogio Riley TT stand bag. Perfect condition, has all the tags still attached, even the rain cover was still neatly folded up in one of the pockets. No doubt the bag was brand new.

The only odd thing was embroidered on the side of the bag was a big Miller Lite logo (just like the one above). At first I thought "I don't want a bag with a beer logo on it." Then I looked at the price tag: $6.94. I hesitated a second and thought "For seven bucks I can get used to the beer logo."

I'm guessing some local embrodery company got a job to embroider some golf bags, for some reason this one got rejected (logo in wrong place, who knows), so they donated the rejected back to Goodwill.

Anyway, if you ever see someone with a blue golf bag with a Miller Lite logo on the side, say hello.

That is an amazing price. Congrats. If you (or your wife/girlfriend/mom) have a stitch ripper you can probably take the logo off.

Best deal, hmm. My Nickent hybrids were about $40 each. My irons were $200, another $30 for the SW. And I bought a Mizuno putter for $10. I didn't like it though so I don't know if that was that great of a deal.

I bought a 3-E set of Hogan Forged Edge GS irons for $40 at goodwill. Surprisingly decent condition, though there are a few chips where the bare metal shows and is rusting. They are my backup set right now. If you go to the right Goodwill/Salvation Army Surplus you can find some surprising golf equipment mixed in with about 5000 persimmon woods.

In the blue Colts bag:

Irons/Wedges - CI-7 4-GW, SW | "Free" Warrior 60° LWPutter - TiffanyBalls - various

While shopping for my girlfriend's set, I bought a brand new Callaway Hyper X ladies driver for $80 and a brand new Callaway X Fairway Wood for $50. I love older model discounts.

I've gotten lucky with all of my clubs:

Around 1996/1997 when i was playing golf in H.S. a friend of mine had a full set of PRGR, and let me keep this amazing graphite 5 iron (which is the most amazing club i have ever hit). Turned out to be a prototype, and his father was the President of PRGR *smiles*

But recently, just getting back into golf, i picked up a Nike SV tour 52 wedge for 18 bucks only used once.

Wow. How often can you pick up a golf bag for less than a tin of porch beef? You got a steal.

I "won" a free hybrid for hitting the green on a par 3 at a tournament...the shipping was $29.99 so I didn't get the club.

Brand new IZZO dual strap 25¢ at my Church’s garage sale.

I really like my Ogio stand bag, but the dual strap that came with it never felt right. There, like gift from God, sat a new IZZO dual strap for a quarter. I can’t believe how much better I like this strap over the one that comes standard on my $180 Ogio bag.

I wanted one of those medicus power meters but wasn't willing to pay the $99 they were asking. Out of curiosity I mentioned to the guy at golftown that I didn't see them in the store but had seen them just a few days earlier. He says "yeah, we aren't carrying them anymore and got rid of them all at $5 a pop."

He searched the other stores for me and surprisingly was able to get me one which I just picked up an hour ago as I type this.

Played with it just a little and I love the instant feedback, especially since I just went to an interlocking grip a couple of days ago. Power meter shows I've picked up as much as 8 mph (much better release). Goodbye baseball grip.

    • Day 252: worked on chipping for a while with my chipping net. Worked on low, medium, and high shots. Productive session.

    • Played Musgrove Mill today. 72.3/155. +9 for 15 official holes as 2 holes are closed, and the par 5 16th plays as a converted par 3. We played the first three holes over to finish 18, and parred 1 and2 amped bogeyed 3. The good: hit every fairway. 1 less than normal for the converted par 3, but the second time I have done that this year. My sand wedge approach on 10 after a monster drive hit the pin in the back left corner hit he pin and spun away to 9’, and I missed the putt.   The great: hit 8 GIR and 7 were inside 10’. Needs work: Missed every birdie putt. No lip-outs. Just struggled on fast greens. Three-putted the par-5 9th with the pin on the back tier and jut missed hitting my approach to the proper level and it spun all the way to the front of the green.
