Question on different model of Titleist Balls...

I used to play any brand/type of balls i can get my hands on. However, since i started playing a fix type of ball, my chipping, putting and GIR has improved a lot. The ball i use is bridgestone e6. I'm not saying this is the only ball, but i do see the advantage of going with the same brand/type of ball as this improves the consistency and predictability of a ball.

Recently, i came across a supplier who sells second hand titleist ball at very low price. However, the balls come in bags of 50/100 but is mixture of DT SoLo, DT Roll, DT Carry, NXT, NXT Extreme, NXT Tour, etc.

Do all these balls play very differently in term of approach and green characteristics? Should i take advantage of thsi offer?

I'm growing more convinced that all golf balls are good these days, even the cheap ones, like Pinnacles. Yeah they don't have the soft urethane cover, but for some reason I seem to score better with them, go figure.

So to answer your question, yes playing the same ball is a good idea (although I'm guilty of switching it up).

Just hit a ball matched to your swing speed and it shouldnt vary too much
But try to shoot the same ball
a few yards here and there will make a difference on approach shots

The SoLo, Roll, Carry, and NXT Extreme are all Surlyn covered 2 piece balls. They are pretty similar, and all distance balls with low spin. The NXT and NXT Tour are both also Surlyn covered balls but are 3 pieces, so they are a tad shorter but have more short game spin and feel.

I have tried and tried different balls. Finally I have settled on the precept laddie. It just works for me and my game

Seconding this. I usually play Pro V1s but the MC Lady is a close second. It really is a good ball and I know a lot of men who play it. Cheap too.

Tried the DT Solo and DT Roll today. Find that they are similar to normal hard ball. There is very little/no spin on the green. Don't think this is the right ball if one wants to improve on the green control and lower the score.

Anyone disagree?

I dont see the difference between the NXT and the DT balls, neither of them give you much spin around the greens. Infact, I dont really think theres much difference in the lower quality balls period, regardless of brand. Everyone makes a pretty decent low quality ball nowadays that all feel relatively soft. The only difference I notice with Titleist balls is I hit the ProV1x about 10 yards farther on drives and I dont really lose much spin around the green compared to ProV1's they definately feel different and the X is a much harder ball.

to me the nxt tour is a distance ball with no spin compared to prov etc. The nxt tour feels heavier as well

I agree with you for the most part. I also can't discern a lot of difference between the NXT and DT series balls. The NXT's seemed to give me a little more distance and felt really good so I played them for a few years before I tried some Pro V1's that a friend gave me. They're a little harder than the NXT but not objectionably so. Haven't tried the Pro V1X yet and don't have any immediate plans to do so. I'm actually thinking of switching to Nike One Blacks because they seem to have better directional control than the Pro V1's.
