Yep, I tried it. Then I put it back in the rack where it came from. Damn near hit myself in the head.

I have never used a 64 degree wedge but am curious in adding it to my collection and keeping my old 60 in my bag. I don't know if it will be a good pick or if it's actually useful though, what's your opinion?

Only you would be able to answer that for yourself through reasonable testing. It seems most people here are averse to anything greater than 56*. Personally, I use a 64* quite frequently, and favour it for shots from the fringe.

That would be the last place i would use a 64*, i am partial to the bump and run from that distance. I have a 64* wedge but i never put it in my bag anymore

For question (a), I have one of each: an X-Forged SW and a CG14 GW.

One deciding factor could be how much bounce you want. Callaway X-Tour and X-Forged all have 10* or more or bounce, except for a couple of Lobs with 9*. X-Jaws wedges have a minimum bounce of 12*.

* The 56.14 X-Forged works well as a bunker club, for shaggy lob type shots around the green, and from the fairway if the turf is plush.
* The 50.08 CG14 works great as a GW for chipping, partial pitching and full shots. It replaces a stock X20 AW (50.11) which I never could hit consistently.

FYI, I've seen several X-Forged models on sale for $70 here and there - some 64* should still be out there. If you have a steep swing and/or like lots of bounce, this might be the way to go.

The CG family offers more variety on bounce, with its dot system. CG12s and CG14s are holding the line at $89 in most places. CG15 = full $$.

Also, do you have a lot of golf shops and/or clubs in your area? Some Canadian posters seem to indicate golf shops are somewhat scarce.

Focus, connect and follow through!

    • I had a few tweeks in the bag. I took out my Mizuno pro FliHi 3 iron replaced it with a Titleist GT2 7 Wood. what a change that is, so easy to hit, it goes so high without it ballooning on me. I couldn't get rid of my callaway woods ( Rogue ST Max LS ) but changed the shafts to Diamana BB 63 stiff for the driver and 73 stiff for the 3 wood. Than i got myself a new putter Odyssey S2S jailbird yes i joined the centershaft family
    • First off all i think you should use the same ball all the time. We all strive for consistency on the course, the only factor you can be sure it will be always the same is your ball if you always use the same. So i think we should always use the same. I recently switched from Titleist Pro V1x to Srixon Z-Star Diamond because it i get a bit softer feel around the greens and same results on driver and irons
