cutting down driver shaft

What effect would cutting the tip rather than the butt have? I heard someone talking about taking 0.5" off of the tip, rather than 0.75" off of the butt because the shaft he had was mid spin and he wanted low spin. How exactly would cutting the tip affect the shaft's performance?

I think it only affects the stiffness of the shaft if you cut from the tip, but I guess it could affect trajectory by making a lower ball flight, not sure on that part though. On your 1st question, My driver is 44" cut from the butt and I hit it straighter with virtualy no loss in distance since I'm hitting it in the sweet spot a lot more.
