My club wants me to join their team, but not to enter any scores since my official handicap is 25.

What should I do? I don't want to play in a tournament and basically cheat.

I'd say that kind of defeats the whole purpose of using handicaps in tournaments. Isn't golf about honesty and whatnot? If they don't want you to enter scores for fear of lowering your handicap, they're not exactly worth your time, IMO.

Reply that you'd like to join but can't comply with the no posting request. If they retract their invitation would you really have wanted to play with a group of cheaters anyways?

Tell them you are going to hand in all your cards and want an accurate handicap. And do not agree to their approach no matter what they say. I know you are young but tell them to get lost if they insist.

I'd start looking for a new club or team and expose the cheaters, but since you lie to us and say your HC is 13.1 on the forum here when it's really 25, Those boys at the club might be the perfect fit for you, lol

I just find it amazing that they'd cheat that way.

I'll tell them that I want to keep a official handicap and post my scores.

If it were me, I'd probably tell them that I already planned on posting my scores and that I'm sorry and I'll just find another team if they want me to. See how they respond...if they only want you for your bogus handicap, then that will likely be the end of it, and I doubt you'll want to play with them anyway. It sounds like they only want to win, and frankly, the game can get pretty contentious when it's only about winning and not about other simple pleasures associated with the game. If they accept you even with the updated handicap, then they may be decent enough guys to play with who were trying to capitalize on that bogus handicap.

There's got to be some sort of governing authority for this? If a club in my area were doing something like this, the SCGA (Southern California Golf Association) would hear about it right quick.
