Just wondering, when choosing hybrids to replace long irons would you generally go with the same shaft as the irons you are replacing?

I went with the stiff stock graphite shaft that came with the hybrid. I guess my thoughts on that are that they are completely different clubheads (irons versus hybrids) so even with the same shafts, they more than likely wouldn't feel the same.

I think it first depends on what you're trying to accomplish, for instance better distance or accuracy. Then it becomes a matter of personal preference.

For example, I have a couple Mizuno Fli-Hi II (hybrid iron) and for those I chose to use the same shafts as my irons had. I did this because with these clubs I was really looking for the same feel and control as my irons. I also wanted to keep my distance gaps close. Now with my Sonartec MD's I choose graphite shafts because I still get good control with them but I wanted a good transition in feel from my woods to my irons. I was also looking to get a little more distance from these as well. Hope this helps.

I guess what I am looking for is to get one hybrid that would replace a 3 iron and another that would replace a 5 wood, so perhaps one with the same shaft as my irons and another with a different shaft would do the trick, I am going to have to try them out, obviously but I was just looking for some insight...

Thanks for the input...

I'm more likely to choose shafts like my woods. But then again, I still carry a 3-iron... so it's not like I'm choosing hybrids to replace everything below a 6-iron or whatever.
