Putting on aerated greens

Anyone else have difficulty reading a green with aeration marks?

Not only do I have a hard time reading I have noticed that aerations with inadequate sand allow the balls roll to tend to stay in line with whatever pattern they catch. Instead of a gradual break it becomes a step by step break. Usually I dont have this much of a problem with aeration, but sand tends to be up to the lip of the holes.

I voted harder but I think a better description would be "more unpredictable". The ball tends to break a little less, of course unless it hit a hole and bounces way offline. It also is a little slower.

I've played on courses that instituted a "2 putt max" rule the week the greens got aeriated. Anyone else seen this?

I've never seen a posted rule but sometimes I institute it myself (it rarely gets used anyway, I don't 3 putt often. I also don't 1 putt often but that's a different story) and a few times in high school matches they had us play a 2 putt max.

I was at the range this spring when some high school teams were going out right after aeration and they were playing 2-putt max. For me, I should probably play it 2-putt minimum...

The ball seems so much more unpredictable on aerated greens. I hate it.

Last night shot a round where I made no putts from 3 feet to 6 feet. misread each one by an inch or two left or right. On the last hole, I wasnt even able to determine a break. When looking at the green from 4 feet out I couldnt determine any deoth of the green, the pattern of the plugs created an optical illusion.

Aeration is unfortunately a necessary EVIL. Keeps the greens healthier, until the golfer slams his club into it after missing a putt due to the holes. I've never done that but I've come close to whipping my club into the woods.

Ditto, if you put a good stroke on the ball it can behave eratically due to aeration holes.
