OK, dummy that I am, I was standing behind the flag when a guy was hitting out of a greenside bunker. He skulled it and it went right for me. It was chest-high and MOVING and I was able only to get my hand up in time and it whacked me on the pinky knuckle. Stupid! Learned my lesson. Finger is OK, thankfully. I even birdied the next hole. After I dropped the putt, my friend told the in-the-sand guy: "HIT HIM AGAIN!" No thanks!

In HS a team mate skulled one out of the trap and into my face on a practice green. I required 4 stitches under my eye. And another time in HS another team mate hit a ball that ricocheted off one of the metal divider fences at the driving range, then off a rafter in the roof which overhangs the hitting mats and then off my face. That one was 4 stitches above my eye.

I am now constantly paranoid around hackers.

I wouldn't stand downline of anyone hitting a sand shot, not just hackers. You never know when a rock or other projectile may be hidden in the sand and come out hot...

Few weeks ago someone was standing in line (paralell) with the markers on the tee box while someone was teeing off. The guy straight up sh*nked it right off the top of the club or something, but it hit the kid standing there dead in the eye and the ball was really moving. Broke his nose and everything swelled up like no one's business. We were in the group behind and heard some rocus on the tee and saw someone drop. I have no clue why anyone would ever stand paralell to the tee marker just out of respect for the guy hitting and just in the slight chance he might straight up miss the ball. I always clear out of the way when people are taking sand shots because not everyone is comfortable swinging so hard so close to the hole so give them room and let them do their thing. I've also almost been victimized from a skulled sandy too.

This story would have been better if the shot would have laid you out right on the green, but since it was just your finger I'll agree with you, you're a dummy, dummy!

One time my uncle was playing a course with really deep bunkers, and he says "HEADS UP" as he's hitting out, thins it, hits the guy right in the head and he had to be taken to the hospital he got knocked out.

Turned out to be fine, thankfully, but when someone says HEADS UP you'd think people would get the f%^* out of the way
