So heres the short story of a long weekend. I threw away 800 bucks in a 2 day stroke play tourny this weekend because I missed 7 putts within 5 feet.

I figured I was going to get something at home to practice my putting stroke so this wouldnt happen again. Missing a few is understandable on a bad day but 7 when your playing the best round of golf in your life is just a killer.

Anyways I bought the Expand a Green last night at golf galaxy and used it last night. Its pretty cool and highly suggest it for anyone looking for something without wanting to spend hundreds of dollars.

Wow. $800 is a new set of irons! Wish I had it to 'throw away'. I looked at the Expand-a-green...its pretty cool for what it is (an indoor putting green). Being in college right now money isn't something I have a lot of, but hopefully I'll make enough money some day to put a real putting green in my back yard. Texas Greens by Design does custom work starting at $7000 (about 500-600 sq. ft.) using turf. I figured thats cheaper than putting in a $30,000 swimming pool!

Over-rate a bit for me. Very thin carpet works just as well, and probably is cheaper. If i am at home, i would rather set up a gate to hit through, maybe two other balls, make sure my putter is on a proper swing path. Its alos nice to putt with out a hole, then you don't get absorbed on that. Alot of people focus so much on the hole they usually miss putts on the low side. Work on the mechanics and just focusing on the ball.

well entry fee was 80 bucks... because i missed 7 putts I slipped from 1st to T4th and then lipped out an eagle putt that wouldve won be a 300$ skin. 1st place was 500 $ I still won money so came out ahead in the end but with a good short stick i wouldve came out way ahead

I've read that the tiles tend to curl up at the joints. Have you had any experience with that?

I always just putt on my living room carpet. I set up two shot glasses, one at each end and then just putt back and forth trying to hit the shot glass. It makes a nice little *tink* sound.

I think if someone took bad care of the tiles they would easily curl. Just depends on how you treat your things. Also if you consistently take them apart and putt back together I could see them curling up as well.

Ive always tried the shot glass thing and liked it however theres something about seeing the cup and putting into that helps me practice.
