Well I got my first lesson today from the recommended golf pro in my area. He seems like he really understands and loves golf especially teaching. Helped me out alot and I totally recommend a hands on lesson for everyone on this board who hasnt got a series of lessons before, it is crucial to your game.

Today we worked on my grip slightly, my shoulders at address, my weight transfer and takeaway/rotation with my body. I didnt realize how much i was minimizing my rotation on my backswing and lacking power, it was also causing me to push shots right.

The next lesson we are going to work on the follow through and hitting down on irons and some other things Im sure but like I said whoever reads this and hasnt got a series of lessons from a recommended golf pro then do yourself a favor and get some. Its not the same as reading from a book, you need someone watching you and being hands on.

That's eerie, I to had my first lesson today and went over the exact same things. Future greats play alike eh?

really, lol, awesome. It must be the fundamentals that intructors start with. I mean I had a good grip before but I didnt realize some fundamentals about grip and was overgripping with my right hand on drives. I really needed it before I got those bad moves ingrained in my swing. I just started playing a few months ago after like 10 years off

Same here, except I've never played before, I want to play highschool golf, and this will be my freshman year, so I'm really trying to learn a good amount before next spring. It really did seem to that everything started to click once you got the right grip didn't it? My grip helped fix my lower body during swings by helping to lock the elbow out and force my hips to rotate. All the crazy little things that throw off your swing, it's amazing!

I haven't had actual legit lessons, but I have a really good friend that is a scratch golfer and does lessons at a camp he helps me almost weekly for free. He's been so beneficial to my game.

    • I have had the flu recently which gave me plenty of time to pore over Joseph Mayo’s instagram. I have hit a ton of shots each day on carpet and a little started how easy this shot is to make. Key thought for me is bring the club “no closer to the earth.” That really resonated with me. If I really steepen the attack angle I can hit my 58* lob wedge barely an inch or two off the ground and a repeatable distance. I don’t recommend this but tried it to what the end ranges are for angle of descent. I actually think a 62*-64* wedge might be even better for this shot.
