An interesting article in Golf Week. Now the 3W is being tweaked.
Does anybody have any of the 3W's listed in the article ?

I have the TM superfast 3 wood, and it's pretty damn long, as long. It was ulmost inevitable in order to bridge the distance gap to the crazy long drivers that are out there.

I've noticed that companies are starting to mention the COR ratings more often for fairway woods. I don't have any of those listed, but do hit a TEE CB1 that is pretty long. I hit the Mizuno MPs the other day and they're very long as well.

I don't know too many folks that worry about getting exact distance with a 3wd. Basically, we either hit them off the tee where we want the distance, or we're using them to gobble up yardage on a long par 5. Otherwise...if I'm going for a green and it's 245yds...I'm not really worried about hitting my 3wd "too well" and going over the green, if it happens I'd be ecstatic that I was able to put a good swing on it.

Drivers are maxed out so this will be the next golf frontier...super 3 woods. It will benefit Ams especially if they set up with the 13 degrees (we used to call this a 2 wood) and the 43.5 shaft and use this off the tee.

No, but doubt I'd hit them any farther than my current 3w (probably not in my sig). I wouldn't want to actually.

i have been using a Mizuno 13.5º F-50 this year and am loving it
its huge off the tee (still shorter than a driver) but super consistent
hitting off the deck, I need a really good swing to get it up - it rarely gets taken out to get there in two
hense why i also purchased a Mizuno MP Titanium 18º 5w

my 3w off the tee is a solid 235-245 club, hoping my 5w will be in the 215-225-ish range to get me there in two
hybrids r for the birds

Not surprised; it's worked with driver marketing right? Not for me. I want my 3w straight/workable (as required), accurate and with consistent yardage. I don't want/need a 3w with a stupid long, lightweight shaft. I want to stand on that tight par-4 with trouble on both sides and be confident I can lace my 3w down the middle. Who cares if I could have hit it 10 yards further with the new SpeedTechnoGalaxyNova 3w.....if it's in the garbage?

Sigh... A set of irons used to be designed to hit the ball fairly straight to a given distance as well. Quite honestly, I don't want to hit my 3-wood any further than I already do.
