So I set out for a round alone at the course down the street from me. So I get to the first tee, and here comes Mr. Touring Professional. This guy had it all... brand new Taylor Made R9 Supertri with the matching logo hat. I took a peek at his bag from where I was standing a few yards away, brand new Taylor Made irons, RAC wedges, Burner Tour fairway woods, Rossa putter and the matching Taylor Made staff bag. So after one lady in his grouping went to the 10th tee (which is part of the same tee box) and had to be told "hole number 1 is over here". After that debacle, here comes Mr Touring Professional up to the tee, which of course, he's playing the blues, no white tees for this pro. Tees it up while a line of people await at the first tee to go off. He promptly tops one that I think made it 4 inches beyond where the clubhead struck the very top of the ball. Hey no problem, he must think, that's my breakfast ball. Tee's up another one, studying the first fairway, no doubt contemplating his upcoming beauty down the fairway with his brand spankin new R9. He tops another one... only this one actually went BACKWARDS. I'm thinking at this point, seeing the line of people waiting to start their round, he'll just take a walk down the fairway and throw a ball somewhere in it to play. But nope, he casually walks back to his cart, grabs a third ball. Tees it back up, and shanks it into the woods WAY to the left.

To make what could have been a long story short, I started off with a par on the first, and thought I was on my way to a really good round. Disaster 2nd and 3rd, made my second par of the day at number 6 after striking a 5 iron from the fairway from about 210 crisp to the middle of the green. Then a disaster number 7 and 9. Backside I started off bogey, bogey. But then put together a 3 hole stretch of pars on the par 5 12th, par 4 13th, and par 3 14th. Somehow shot 42 on the backside (+7). Which is my best 9 so far this year at this course anyway. All in all, a pretty decent day... and oh yea, I teed off after this group I made mention of in front of me and they never let me play through.

The question I have... 3 balls off the first tee? I mean really, do you guys consider this just plain poor etiquette? If you can't even get it beyond the tee box on your first 2 trys, just pick them up and go drop somewhere. There's people waiting to go off... a lot of people.

Callaway XR 9.5 + 1, Taylormade R15 3 Wood, Burner 3 Rescue, Callaway XHot 5H, Warbird 4H, Nike Vapor Fly 6-AW Irons, Titleist Vokey 54, 60 Wedges, Taylormade Rossa Fontana Putter, Srixon Z-Star Tour Yellow.

Best Score 2017:  82 (Traditions at the Glen, Par 70)

Favorite Course - Conklin Players Club (Par 72) - Best Score 86

I'm not a golf etiquette expert, but common sense tells me that if you have a line of people waiting, you take max two swings then move on. I give guys like this credit, before lessons I didin't not want to tee off in front of anyone I didn't know, no less do it three times. Better to do nothing and be thought you su*k at golf than shank three shots off the tee and remove all doubt.

I wonder if that was the same guy from the driving range in the thread started about 1 wk ago??? Sounds the same with all Taylormade duds. Wouldn't that be funny if two threads were started about the same guy sucking? :)

Yeah. We'll see if he underestimates values as much as he overestimates his ability. ;)

Maybe he just refinanced at LendingTree.com, they are giving up to $750 TaylorMade giftcards depending on the loan size.

What he should have done was to play his second shot from where the ball ended up after his first stroke. Or did it go oob?
