Amazing to me that people don't do any research before buying clubs on ebay. Sure, there's still the possibility that you can get burned even after you've done the research but these AP2's are so obviously fake: http://cgi.ebay.com/Titleist-AP2-710...item255c64afc1

The seller has zero previous sells/feedback and these irons already have 12 bids? Why don't people use their heads? You can tell instantly that the irons are fake simply from the ferrule not being the standard one that Titleist ships with and then if you've ever seen new irons still in the plastic, this clearly isn't how they are packaged out of the factory.

Someone must have notified Ebay since it is now gone.

I will never bid for golf clubs if the owner is not in the US. You must avoid China, Taiwan and Hongkong. Secondly, I only bid with people who have sold golf clubs before and get at least 99.9% positive feedback.

sometimes kind of tough to tell what they have sold, as you cant see past items sold after a a while

but i agree.... the people that sell this stuff should be .... well ill keep it clean (u know what im getting at)

I actually reported it, but didn't expect ebay to move that quickly. I guess they don't mess around when it comes to fake items. lol

Yeah, these clubs were actually in the US though. Although, zero feedback rating which I would definitely stay away from but at some point people with zero feedback have to make sells so they can get some feedback. Doubled edged sword.

It could be somebody that ran across the irons on one of those websites that sell the copies like Golf Wholesale Seller or whatever it is and either realized they were fake after getting them or knew they were fake and are trying to rip people off. Either way, it's pretty dirty to try to sell fake clubs like that.

I don't have a problem with "exact" copies, but people need to be upfront and list them as so.

Yeah, he's solid.

Can't see the fake AP2s since the auction was removed, but what made them visibly obvious? Never seen fake ones before.

The ferrules where not what Titleist puts on their AP2 irons. Titleist uses all black ferrules where these were black with a silver line around the top of the ferrule. The clubs where also packaged individually (in the pics on the auction) in plastic sacks. Titleist packs their clubs with the grips in plastic and the heads in plastic which is shrink wrapped. The whole club is not in a loose fitting plastic sack. The pics weren't great, but those were the two dead giveaways.

ahhhh, interesting. Yeah, it's usually the small details that are dead giveaways. Good to know about the bags, I didn't know that one.

Well that's likely not something you'll find consistently between different countfeiters. This guy probably just found some plastic bags or whatever and put them in there to make them look official. From what I've read, the ferrules is usually the one dead giveaway because the ones that the manufacturers put on there are difficult to get, so the counterfeiters just throw any one on there which typically looks drastically different than the real thing.
