I am looking to get new irons. I am a new golfer and would like a lot of forgiveness. I am currently looking at the Nikeslinghots, Adams A20s, and Callaway Big Bertha irons. Let me know what you guys think. If there are other irons you would recommend please let me know.

MX-19's were my first set and I loved them. Never personally hit any of the ones you listed but all good brands.

I would lean to the slingshots for a new golfer. However a better policy is to hit em first.

Big Bertha irons really get the ball up high, much like the Ping G10 model. If you don't need extra help getting the ball up, you might try the Callaway X18 or X20 models.

The heads have a low center of gravity to get the ball up, but the Uniflex shafts have a middle kickpoint for more moderate lift. Best overall advice: Test out several models of similar design and see which works best for you.

Focus, connect and follow through!

As has been said before, hit a bunch of different irons and see what feels the best and looks best to your eye. If a club doesn't look good to you over the ball, you won't be as confident. Places like Golfsmith will often have a large area of used clubs, and they'll let you hit them as well. You might be able to get a really good deal on some "experienced" clubs that'll leave some money in your pocket for lessons.

I would suggest to take as little forgiviness as you are prepaired to take, it is better to invest some time learning to become a better ball striker, than to start with shovels an keep on learning how to hit a ball with every better set you'll buy during your progress. About 30 years ago we about all started with about what is called blades today, that wasn't ideal of course, but if you can hit a somewhat more "difficult" iron, you can hit about anything.

The golf shop likes it best if you start with super game improvement shovels, buying game improvement shovels half a year later, a better iron a year later, and so on.....

Hey kam. I just picked up a set of irons from gigagolf, a 9 club set for 153 shipped. Very forgiving & sharp looking.

If you must go oem, go callaway. Their products are first rate & i've dealt with their customer service before which is far & away the best in the golf industry.

Can't go wrong with any of them. Callaway clubs hold their value pretty well, if I were picking I would go with the BB's. Also look into some older Ping models, they really hold their value and are very forgiving.
