I would go with Ray Rice. He, no doubt, has the most upside. You can never rely on Steven Jackson. He'll either be pretty good or injured.

Ray Rice is the man, plus his team is going to win games. Winning games usually gets everyone points too. Steven Jackson just isnt going to produce as much.

I traded Ray Rice for Randy Moss last season....

I'd keep Ray Rice since the Rams offense if broken right now except for Steven Jackson. I wouldn't expect Rice to put up the same numbers as '09 though since the Ravens have improved their offense and likely won't depend on Rice as much.

That is why I am hesitant to go with Rice. With the acquisition of Boldin, he won't have nearly as many touches. Unlike Steven Jackson who will bet tons of touches.

Jackson, if healthy, will get alot of touches, but if the passing game isnt fixed, defenses will key on him. His value goes up in a PPR league because he'll be the safety valve in most passing situations and will catch alot of passes.

Guys, this is a lay-up, come on now! Ray Rice is younger, on a better offense, and supremely talented. I agree with Steven Jackson fans out there though that Jackson is possibly the most talented back in the league. Look how much he produces on the worst team in the NFL! It's incredible that he hasn't been a true bust yet (I'll let 2007 slide) given that team's horrible record over the past few years.

The negatives are glaring though with Steven Jackson: he's coming off back surgery (yikes! you don't want any part of that in a Keeper league). He may be still young at only 27, but like Indiana Jones once said, "it's not the years, honey, it's the mileage." He has 1829 career touches compared to only Rice's 427.

Rice is a top-3 pick in redraft leagues (both PPR and non-PPR) for a reason. Compare their most recent numbers:

Rice 2009: 254 carries, 1339 rush yards, 7 TDs (5.3 yards per carry), 78 receptions, 702 receiving yards, 1 receiving TD
Age: 23

S-Jax 2009: 324 carries, 1416 rush yards, 4 TDs (4.4 yards per carry), 51 receptions, 322 receiving yards, 0 receiving TDs
Age: 27

Don't get me wrong; football's a crazy, unpredictable game, and Steven Jackson is good enough to outperform anyone. But let's be honest here, he's on the horrendous Rams and will likely be facing 8-man fronts all year long again. Rice is running behind a top-3 offensive line that has four of its five starters under the age of 26. That's just insane.

I would go Ray Rice 100 times out of 100. If I turned out to be wrong (example: an injury to Rice), I wouldn't second guess myself for a second. The information available is overwhelmingly in Rice's favor.

I did go with Rice. It was hard since Jackson has produced for me quite nicely for a few years in this league. Rice won't get as many touches this year, so we will see. He is my 2nd running back anway.

One more vote for Ray Rice. I've got Rice ranked ahead of every back not named Chris Johnson IMO.

He is my number 2. AP is my number 1 rb. They will both play every week though(unless they have a bye).

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
    • I managed to knock off a 3, a 13, and a 15 a couple of weeks ago. The 3 was a 185 yard par 3 with a 6 iron to 12 feet. 13 was a 350 yard par 4, which was a 2 iron and a 9 iron to about a foot. 15 was a 560 yard par 5 with a driver in a bunker, 4 iron into the semi, gap wedge to 8 feet and a putt.
