I have heard a bunch of different things about the rifle scale vs. the regular dg scale. I am currently using dg r300's and I was trying a 5.5 rifle x forged 6 iron and It felt only a little bit stiffer, so I wondering if this was right or not.

Burner Superfast 9.5, Matrix S-Flex
Big Bertha 3 Wood (Old) : R Flex : 15.5 Degree
Idea Pro Gold Tour Prototype : Javelin FX R Flex : 20 Degree
804.OS 3-PW, Pro 970 R Flex
CG 14 : 52 Degrees : Project X Wedge Flex Forged X Tour : 56 Degrees : Rusted Sedona Putter Pro V1 Ball

If the rifles are similar to the Project X, then a 5.5 is actually more stiff than a s300.

Here are the approximate FCM ratings for a few shafts:

DGS300 = 5.8FCM DGX100 = 6.8FCM PX5.5 = 6.0FCM PX6.0 = 6.5FCM

Shades,

What are FCM ratings and where could I find them for my shafts? DG SL R300.

Shades,

It is the frequency of the shaft. You can get your's tested and by a clubmaker to find out.

Asked a clubsmith about this, and he said the ProjectX 5.0 would be a little stiffer than the DG R300. He said a soft-stepped 5.0 would be about the same as an R300.

Also, shaft weight is a performance factor. A lighter-weight shaft will offer less resistance - and create more clubhead speed - than a heavier one of the same flex.
