A nice accomplishment, regardless of how Michelle Wie and women's golf are perceived on this forum. This was definitely a much needed win for the LPGA tour. Good to see this, since the only threads I could find about women's golf here were about two DQs (disgraceful behaviour) and Erica Blasberg's suicide.

She won a tournament, "you know!"

I think we forgot to make a thread about the discrimination thingy a week ago...

Got her driver's license? I thought winning the Canadian Women's Open was her first LPGA win, but I guess she won a tourny last year too. Its painful hearing her talk, but she looks prety good hitting the ball...

Good win by her...I was flipping through the Canadian Womens Open, the Barclays and the US Amateur and it was good to see her win.

The LPGA really needs to bolster its brand. The website's crap, and when I tried to find Wie's hole-in-one all I could find (from a Google Video Search) was someone's upload with a video camera of a TV broadcast and well, lousy quality...

I'm looking forward to her next phone interview with Mike Richards.

Dont think so, otherwise the Golfchannel would have had a 30min special on that - afterall it has to do with driving "you know"

Lol. Definitely one of his more bizarre "impressions".

meah... it's not that men are sexist, cause some guys actually do watch lpga golf. it's just that women's golf just isn't as good as men's, so they don't watch it. my gf hates watching women's golf. if you had tickets to see the laker's or the spark's, but you could only choose one, which would it be? of course it would be the lakers, get off your high horse and quit being self righteous, it's unattractive.

anywho, it's about time she won something. wasn't she supposed to be winning the master's or something by now?

Well, she's won a tournament in each of the past two years now while still attending school full-time. And she's still only 20 or whatever.

High horse? Easy now. I erroneously thought this was her first win, which would be a pretty big deal considering the previous hype. And yes, the PGA Tour is obviously superior. On the other hand, Michelle Wie looks better than Matt Kuchar. And I watch female curling too.

Nice to see her win. She's one of very few Americans to win this year on either tour, too. And it doesn't seem as though she's capable of pulling off a professional win in the U.S. yet -- she's done it once in Mexico and once in Canada.

Ha, good point. She's got the U.S. surrounded now!

I actually like watching women's golf. I can't hit 300+ yards like the PGA guys, so it's interesting to watch how the ladies play the course differently. Wie is going to school and on the tour at the same time. That's a lot on her plate, so it is a big accomplishment. She'll win in the US where the course requires a long hitter.

On facebook, Nike Golf was saying Wie averaged 290 yards off the tee with their VR Tour Driver to win the CN Canandian Open!!! 290 yards average? Crazy.

I'm happy about this, women's golf needs her to win I think,...
I had a pro tell me to watch her finish her swing, the best finish in golf, men or women he said,...

That could be true, but does that help with ballstriking? I like her interview finish - like when she isn't talking any more.

You see this kind of finish in a couple of female players (dont see it much in make players though) - and i wouldnt advise to try it, you might break something (seriously), and just cuz you make the club point 30° left of your target wont help your ballstriking one cent. And trying to create finish positions in general isnt a good idea, they come naturally from what happend before.

    • Are these course getting easier? are the players getting better? should we not worry about tournaments that used to produce single digit winners are now producing course records year after year.  I am not talking roll back I am just curious why scores are so much lower than five to ten years ago.
    • I've posted plenty of positive things about Tiger over the years. I just like to play fair.  But if you want to see me praise TW some more here you go: 12 wins by 7 shots or more - Jack had 4 3 separate win streaks of 5 or more in a row - Jack won 3 in a row once It took Jack 172 more events and 9 extra years to reach Tiger's 71 wins by 2009 TW is the only player since 1900 to win a major by double digits and he did it twice 30% peak win rate is even higher than the previous record holder Ben Hogan (25%) 11 time PGA Tour Player of the year - Jack had 5 12 times lead the Tour in wins - Jack 6 10 times money list leader - Jack 8 Jack officially has 73 wins, but 2 of them are team wins with Arnie. You could argue he should be listed with 71 and I wouldn't disagree.
    • I mean that's clearly an opinion.  The funny thing is I never even attacked Tiger, I just pointed out that the other poster had a point when he mentioned that Jack had a longer career. Tiger basically had 5 years when he could have been winning more tournaments if not for his injuries. 2010-2011 and then again 2015-2017. Hard to make the argument after his final win because not many players win a ton after age 43.  If those numbers support the fact that Jack had a longer career so be it. Don't take that as an affront to Tiger.
    • Even injured Tiger had a more impressive career than Jack against much stiffer competition. This was confirmed by Jack quite a few times. You want to ignore that, but it’s fact.
    • Day 201 3-5 Wider backswing and higher. Practiced consisted of mostly backswing today. Wrist arching through downswing still a focus on full shots with a pause.  Will probably have a 2nd practice tonight blending wider backswing into more of full swing without pause at the top.
