What the hell is wrong with the NFC this year? At this point in the season, teams that are 5-6 have a shot at the playoffs. I mean, the Eagles clinched a division already, and the Steelers and Patriots - both also at 10-1 - are only winning their divisions by 3 and 2 games respectively (with five games left in the season).

Seattle leads their division at 6-5! The AFC divisions are led by two 10-game winners and two 8-game winners. The NFC: 10, 9, 7, and 6.

It's abysmal. I like it when the AFC wins the Super Bowl, but can the NFC even put up a fight? The AFC was 5-1 last weekend in interleague play, and they haven't fared much better in any of the previous weeks.

I agree, it is abysmal. I'm a Philly fan myself and this could be our year... again. But overall, the quality of teams in the NFC is pathetic compared to the AFC. It makes me wonder just when the balance of power shifted. In the early-mid 1990's the NFC was very dominant, but now that isn't the case. One thing I've noticed is that many of the top AFC teams are very strong defensively (Indianapolis this year and Kansas City last year being the notable exceptions). In the NFC, Atlanta has a decent defense and Philly is still pretty solid (not against the run, though-thanks, Pittsburgh) despite numerous injuries. Defense is the key, in my opinion.

Defense is the reason Indianapolis may exit early. Then again, they have such a powerful offense, who knows? I'm just glad that the Raiders won yesterday.

The power shift? Maybe when New England beat St. Louis. It seems to me that every year before then the AFC was better.

And nearly every team would have fared better than the Raiders against Tampa Bay when they won the Super Bowl. Heck, Pittsburgh beat them easily in the regular season.

Yowtch, that loss still stings a bit. But certainly a bit less than all the losses this season for the Bucs. *sigh*
