Ok, so i am extremely confused. I have played golf a total of 7 times. the first time i played I shot a 111. It leaves me completely shocked that in the 6th time I shot a 90, I went out today and shot an 86. I dont really understand how i am progressing at this pace. I am hoping i can stay in this range and do not fall back down to a 95 or so. How consistent do i need to be before i entering a tournament a tournament.

By the way it will be a youth tournament as i am thirteen. We will play on the close tees and these rounds were on the middle.

ok, thanks for clarifying that first post. in my experience, kids seem to be more apt at learning things than adults. i'd suggest starting lessons from a proper golf professional at your age. it shouldn't be too expensive cause all the pro's i know of give good youth rates. so see what your parents would think about that. you should see if a course in your area offers a weekend workshop for youth where you learn about putting, short game, etc. as well. you could also look to see if there is a ''first tee'' program in your area. but it seems as though you're progressing well. keep it up, and don't put too much pressure on yourself to succeed what you've already accomplished. it seems you've got the skill, just keep it up. and if you do the right things, golf really isn't that hard a game to play. good luck.

I don't see any reason to wait for consistency before entering a tournament. If it feels right, then do it. It's good experience if nothing else.

I agree. If people waited for things to feel right before jumping in with both feet, they wouldn't have that big parade every year in SF.
