Thanks for all the tips! You guys are really helpful. It's great to have a place to ask these kinds of questions to.

I spent the week working on my driver and woods, and have seen some improvement. I put the driver aside for now, I was slicing alot with it, and swinging it was messing up my timing with my irons for some reason. I worked alot with my 3w and hybrid. I slowed up my backswing a bit and made sure I got my body more involved which seems to have helped.

The practice paid off in the results of my round yesterday. I hit every tee shot except the first at least 220 yards with rollout and had two tee shots that went about 240 with rollout which is okay with me for now. Hopefully when I get my driver worked out I'll hit that consistently 230 - 250.

I'll try to get a video of my swing here, but I don't think strength is the issue. I'm 45 years old, 6' 1" 205, and work out regularly; 225 lbs on bench, 40lb dumbbell curls and tricep extensions, weighted dips. I am a long distance runner, running on average 50 miles per week off season, and 70+ during marathon season. I also do 200 situps and 200 leg lifts per night. I'm not a body builder or power lifter by any means, but I consider myself in pretty good shape.

Pure strength has little to do with how far you you hit a golf ball. The essentials are purity of contact, clubhead speed, and launch angle. I played a week ago with a very good golfer who was about 5'6" and 140 lbs. 220-240 yard drives straight down the fairway every time. The women pros regularly hit it 270, and they are about the same size as he is.
