So, I have a dilemma. My 21deg hybrid has been retired to the corner of my cart shed, as the head came off mid round .

Background on bag composition: I've got a 15deg 3wood, now with no 21deg hybrid, it goes down to my 24deg hybrid. So there's a 9 degree gap there and about 35-40 yard gap. On the other end, I'm wondering if I should pick up a 60 deg wedge? I've got a 52 and a 56 now, but more loft = less roll and my home course greens are EXTREMELY small, so precision is key.

Anyway, wanted some advice on what to do. Should I replace it with another hybrid, around 20deg? Or should I get a 60deg wedge?

How much did you use the 21deg hybrid?

If you used it a lot I would get another. You can also open up the face of the 56* to give it more loft if you need to.

On the other hand. How often do you find you self 10yds shorter then a full swing of the 56* and have a need for 60*
I would only game a 60* if you have very elevated greens or you are very good with one around the green.

Go to a pre-owned site, like Callaway, which has other brands as well, and you can find a new or like new hybrid for very reasonable cost. Try it and see if you like it, if you don't maybe get a 60 degree wedge. At your handicap, a 60 would not likely be useful for more than a pitching and less than full shot, and a lot of great players never used a 60. I like my 60, but never try to hit it full out.

I would only say that a 60 degree wedge is almost never used for "full swing" shots. Its main utility is for control over relatively short pitches from 20 to 60 yards.

Good call. Ended up picking up a Callaway 20deg hybrid for $40 with no tax/shipping. I'll try it for a few weeks and see how it works out. Thanks!

Can't you just put a new shaft in the 21deg hybrid?

I take full swings with my 60* with no problem. I think it just depends on your level of comfort with it.

    • Day 23: weird day, and only had a little bit of time. Just did mirror work again, working on where the elbow is in the downswing
    • I flipped over to this tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it. Anyone else watch? I picked it up during the golf relay event, but seeing these pros out having fun in alternative events was refreshing and entertaining. I’m sure it will be on in reruns in the next week or so, so I won’t spoil the outcome. Im curious what others thought of it. I’m recording it’s later airing to see the beginning.
    • Day 443 - 2025-12-17 Made a few swings in testing some things out at another academy. Might pop up on someone else's podcast in a few weeks.
    • Day 37 (17 Dec 25) - nine hole round with my good friend.  We got paired up with a couple of the men’s group regulars as part of their shootout.  Started off with a wonderful quad bogie and then a dbl on three to be six over thru three holes.  Game went 180° over the next five as I shot one under (including a chip in birdie on hole six and four up and down 1 putt pars) for a net finish of five over. What could have been a really tough nine became a solid finish due to staying in the moment and not checking out.  Great day in course management and keeping perspective .
    • Day 127 12-17 Backswing and flow practice. Took advantage of the 60 degeee weather(it was 20 degrees Sunday)
