Phil and DJ are not making a good couple; break them up before the evening round, Corey.

Westwood and Kaymer are numbers one and two in Europe, and they're dominating their matches, but I think they'd benefit other partners even more than themselves.

Kuchar and DJ struggling.
Cink was a Captains pick, and he's carrying Kuchar around

Those Rory wigs crack me up, he actually had fun with that too, so it was amusing.

Are these the same golfers that we see week after week in their loud, totally uncordinated clothing? These look elegant!

what a shot out of that deep rough by Mcllroy!

Too bad GMac hit the first one into the water but we've still got a chance for a halve.

If by elegant, you mean middle aged womanly, you bet they do. Much better without those fruity sweaters.

Indeed a great shot by Rory. Too bad he's started 0-2 after talking a lil bit of smack.

Well, technically his first match was halved, so he's 0-1-1. But yeah, not a fantastic start for him.

That putt by Cink sealed the match really. Rory's short putt for birdie suddenly became a lot harder, and he missed it.

The Fowler, Mickelson matchup is interesting, should be a good one.

Lee and Luke appear to be pushing the throttle to the floor in the first alternate-shot match. Stricker's rubbish iron play hasn't helped. He and Tiger need to win the next hole, or else they might want to just set a late alarm for Sunday morning, because there would be no point in going back out there.

And Tiger dumps his approach into the drink. That will be a four-hole deficit to sleep on.

Anyone annoyed by the commericals?

I mean literally they come show 2 putts, and a drive, and it's off to commercials again..

I DVR'd it, watched an hour of something else, and caught up that HOUR of programming in like 2.5 hours of 'game time'..

I know there has to be advertising, but this is just excessive..

The American Capts. need to get out there and calm the team, they are getting EMBARRASSED.

Isn't that just how American TV is? Such an ultra consumerist society, there's gonna be lots of ads. The English coverage takes a break every 40 minutes or so.

First, the bad news for the US squad:
European leads in all 6 matches with Stricker/Woods & Z. Johnson/Mahan getting their doors blown off.

The good news for the US squad is: the sun wet down.

Basically the American's chances rest with Furyk/D. Johnson (1 down thru 8) and Cink/Kuchar (1 down thru 5) to turn those blue EURO flags to RED.
If that were to happen the score going into singles would then be: US 8, EURO 8.
At that point:

Europe would needs 6.5 points to win the cup.
US would needs 6 points to retain the cup

From an objective point of view that's why the Ryder Cup is so exciting with its swings of fortune. The EUROS threatened to blast through 4-balls on Friday morning when that rain delay seem to cool them off and allowed the American to get their equilibrium. The American continued their good play in the Alternate Shot session this morning.

But the same rain that apparently gave to the Americans, along with the stellar play of the EUROS has taken it back.

Remember originally it was 4-Ball, Alt. Shot; 4-Ball Alt. Shot.
With the format change the EUROS got a chance to end on their 4-ball strength and their play is backing it up.

So it's back to the American team room for a team meeting to clear the air about what's going on. Hopefully those two pairs I mentioned have a good meal and good night of sleep and tomorrow turn it around to ensure an exciting singles session.

Because that projected score on Ryder Cup.com which now reads EURO 10, US 6 especially after how things started is a whopping downer.

    • The chatter in my brain is when the distance is between clubs since I am pretty weak at shortened backswings, etc. I try to simply decide if being long or short is the better outcome and choose my club based on that and simply not even try for the “real” distance.  For me a full normal swing is what I strive for.
    • I saw this comment made in a golf article... "Most golfers stand over a 4- or 5-iron still negotiating with themselves. They think about how hard to swing, whether they have the right club, if they have the aim correct and more. It’s a lot to deal with and long irons punish the “half-in” golf swing." I am not sure the "most golfers" is correct regarding the bolded part. I can understand if there is a bunker, water, and/or OB that a lot of golfers would be fixated on that. I am not sure that leads to ending up more times there. Pending your level in golf, the variance is so large in outcomes, it could be just with in the expected outcomes. I can understand if have a big lake on the right side of the hole being one of the most terrifying shots for right-handed amateur golfers.  I am not sure many golfers are standing over the ball talking to themselves, "Ok, maybe I should step back and pull the 4-iron. Am I lined up right? Oh, the wind came up, should I swing harder? What am I going to have for dinner tonight, maybe steak. (Joking, somewhat 😛)" A question is that how much chatter do you get while standing over the ball. Are you questioning the everything about your golf shot?
