The saddest par I know of happened on a par 3. One of the regulars at my home course hit his first OB and then holed his next shot.

Three put pars after reaching a par five in two alway sucks. I know I've done it at least once. The other sad par came in a HS Torunament, the guy I was playing with butchered an iron on a par three (7 iron maybe?) that appeared to be off the extreme toe, hit thin, chunked and shanked all at the same time. He ended up short and right. My seven has eyes for the flag the entire way - it's simply tracking. It smashes into the base of the flagstick on the fly, and careens into a deep greenside bunker. Big lip. Simply a horrible break. I hit a great bunker shot that lipped out for a birdie and tapped in for par after the two best shots of the day. The other fellow chipped in for two, with all the subtlety of a lumberjack hopped up on about 45 expressos. One of those bad chip, low screamers hit far too hard. Hammered the flagstick dead center and dropped.

If he would have fist pumped or something I would have used his nostril to remove the grip from a club.

at my home course, there's a 330 yard par 4 that's steadily downhill just about all the way. i've driven the green from the box probably half a dozen times, and at least three of those times, getting all excited about putting for eagle, i would send my first putt long and miss the comeback. having to mark par on the scorecard after driving the green is a real spirit breaker, i tell ya. ironically enough, the only time i've ever eagled that hole was when i holed out from about 40 yards off the green.

135 yard par 3 the other day. My tee shot landed 3 feet from the pin. The 2 others in my group both hit the green, one of them was 6 feet and one was 26 feet. They both sank their puts and got birdie. I missed my 3 footer and got an unfortunate par :(

    • #1. I rather lower my score by 3 instead of making an eagle... but a hole in one is a hole in one and I'm still didn't make one.
    • I'm available all of those weekends.   How do I vote?
    • Option one. Would like an ace even if it’s a worm burner. Have witnessed a couple of aces so would like to be on the other end.
    • OK - I think we should narrow down a weekend, and start there.  We're going to try to do this in June. I've created a Doodle poll where everyone can vote for the options that work for them.  Please include your username so I can track/post results. Doodle Doodle is the simplest way to schedule meetings with clients, colleagues, or friends. Find the best time for one-to-ones and team meetings with our user-friendly calendar tool. Get started today! (I only put in the Saturday dates, but assume the outing would include Friday - Sunday). Once we select a date that works for the most people, I'll start to line up courses and schedule and go from there.
    • Option #2 because I'd add the condition that it's in a tournament. Because that'd mean I'd break par in a tournament. And I already have a hole in one.
