I shot par for the first time today!! (on an 18 hole course) This was at The Bridges in San Ramon, CA. 6,600+ yds/73.5 rating/146 slope

Dropped a 20' Birdie putt on 18 and let loose a HUGE fist pump!

Hit 11/14 Fairways
12/18 GIR
29 putts
3 Birdies (#1,14,&18), 3 Bogeys (2,7,&13)

Feeling so pumped up right now. I wish it wasn't dark so I could go play another 18!

Saved par on 4/6 missed GIR. Only one 3 putt bogey (from 60+ feet)

i only have 3 rounds this year at par, and a couple under

what im sayin - once you go low and know the feeling, it gets easier....sorta!! hahah!
today i was -2 through 2, then went double, bogey, par, par, bogey, par, par.....WTF is that all about!! hahah (just had time for 9 today)

great round again!

Congratulations!

It's funny, most people think that low handicappers shoot even or better regularly. I have yet to shoot par myself, despite playing down to the mid-4's at times. It's a great accomplishment and you're right to be proud. 71 is next!

Nice work, congrats. At the other end of the scale, I'm looking to break 90 for the first time on a "proper" course. As for you, go hunt down that round in the 60's =P

I came so close last week to even par, bogeyed 18 for a 73. Best round of my life.

Ugh!

I've got enough 73's to wallpaper a small room, but I don't think any were the result of a bogey on 18. That's gonna leave a mark!

Ugh!

Luckily this was a tryout for my college golf team, and I had the lowest score by 2 shots. And the course rating was 73.6, so at least I had a positive handicap for the day

Congrats! So how long did this journey to par take you?

I've been golfing about 9-10 years, but had about 4 years in the middle where I only played once every 6-8 months. For the last 4 months or so I've been playing close to 3 times per week.

      I think you're saying it's preposterous to think that the areas on this club are anything like what's shown here: 30mm toward the toe or heel loses only 5% distance? Highly, highly doubtful. So a guy who hits the ball there and normally hits the ball about 250… will hit it instead about 238. By missing the sweet spot by about 1.2 inches? Highly, highly doubtful. Heck, the high heel barely gets into the red, and orange is only "up to" 10%! @M2R, I've never heard of "Ask Golf Nut" but I'm dubious of his claims in the video and really, really dubious of what's on his site: "Why AskGolfNut Is the Most Trusted Data-Driven Golf Resource". Hmmmmmm.

      So the question was posed today by some of my friends.  Is a pitch mark the same as a divot?  I thought NO, but they argued if your ball lands in another player's divot (made by club during a swing) this was the same as a pitch mark, i.e. the ball mark made when the ball lands

      Original definition use to or still is how far offline you hit it. It might be better to think of it as consistency in retaining favorable launch conditions to optimize distance.   That heat map showed a gigantic 0-3% loss in ball speed. That is absurd. The true 100% sweet spot is tiny for all clubs. Good luck telling the difference if the sweet spot is under 3% in a sizable area. Especially considering variation in launch angle, spin, and outdoor weather.
