I used to kayak amongst alligators. It's fun. If anyone wants a video, let me know. Then again, I used to kayak fish for shark, too.

Funny story is this... having lived in FL for 3+ years, I came back and played a round of golf here in PA last fall. I was walking past this little stream in a shady area and someone had carved a 12' alligator out of a big block of wood. I was about 5 feet from it when I saw it and I must have jumped backwards a good ten feet! Three holes later my heart rate was back to normal.

Had I never lived in FL, I would have just walked on past, but you get conditioned quickly to giving the beasts a wide berth.

Unless, of course, you're in your kayak and you feel like hitting them on the head with your paddle... but usually they don't let you get close enough for that.

Kayaking with aligators... sounds like something my buddy Eli would do. He's the guy who spontaneously climbed out the passenger window and held on to the top of a car carreening down the highway. Crazy man. Crazy.
