Anyone ever make a "bastard" club?

I've been pondering the idea of making a hybrid out of a smaller fairway wood head on a hybrid shaft...anyone tried anything like this?

thats not a hybrid it;s still a fairway wood. All you have done it put a short shaft in it. Yes I have one and it''s a great club.

me too. i used to have a 7 fairway wood with a short steel shaft on it (i think length wise probably like a 6i).

Don't just try to put a hybrid shaft on a fairway wood. Usually a hybrid shaft is a .370" tip and a fairway is.335 or .350" Just shorten a fairway club shaft. A true bastard club would be putting a Taylormade shaft in a Ping Club or something illigitimate like that.

My bro and I got an old driver head and welded two shafts together to make a driver that was about 8 feet long. The driver head just said "PROBE" on the bottom... So, the legacy has always been referred to as "The Probe". It was hilarious to swing, but if you got a hold of it somehow, you could actually launch it pretty well. It was funny to see my little bro (about 12 yrs old at the time, and a whopping 60 pounds) walking down the fairway with this antenna rod sticking out of his bag.
