I'm guessing if you're still fading ever so slightly, your swingpath is still a tad out to in. If you make it go in to out, you'll hit a push draw.

If you're backswing is too steep, that's the same as being over the top. However, you can't go over the top if you are standing far enough away from the ball, because you would miss the ball completely. Unless you were to lean over the ball in your downswing or something. But if you keep your posture there's no way.

What? Almost none of that makes sense. You can take it back steep or flat and still be "over the top" on the downswing. The backswing and downswing are unrelated, and in fact you're more likely to come over the top (steep) if you're FLAT on the backswing, because in the transition you're going to try to get back on plane, will overshoot it, and end up steep.

I "fixed" my problem and am drawing the ball again, sometimes too much.

I used to have a strong grip and was bowed at the top, so no problems drawing the ball back then, but switched to a more neutral grip. I think I overdid it, maybe even opening up/cupping on the downswing.

Hitting fewer fat shots now. Sliding the hips more forward did the trick. Still the occasional chunk, but they're aren't as bad.

I started SnT myself half assed in spring and finally started lessons starting late September. The backswing, tuck and downswing transition are the hardest parts for me to get used to.

Hitting the ball better and the videos show a big difference but the swing still feels "foreign" - how long before it feels natural? A month isn't much though - I guess I've give it a couple more months.

It still feels foreign to me and I have been doing it by myself since June. I have had no lessons on it yet so that's probably part of it. It's just starting to click this week due to this thread as of why I couldn't push-draw but after re-reading Iacas's write up on ball flight laws linked in this thread I had an Aha moment and now under stand why and have hit a few my last practice round. I go to Erie once a year so next time I'm up I am going to setup a lesson at Golf Evolution and see how it goes.

Definitely get a lesson when you're in Erie. I'd take a lesson too if I were in that area, but don't get there often. I'd do the video lessons, but I'm relatively close to a SnT instructor.
