So after going nuts for weeks I decided on the AP2's for my new iron set. I'm coming from a set of X18's I got new. Now Ive only had one day at the range with them but I'm sporting a woody. I can't beleive how much better I can hit these clubs. There is so much more feel and I am like a sniper with these. Now I understand this love may not last long and I'm not ready for the tour but its amazing how much better I can hit the ball and golf is fun again. Anyone that can shoot low 90's and under should try these clubs out. I just always thought a GI irons was the way to go. But the AP2's could be the best club I've ever hit on my life. Sorry about the love fest on these clubs I'm just typing what I felt today and wanted to share it with anyone who was thinking about new irons.

I hear you and know the feeling!

I am very glad I went with the Nike VR Split Cavity irons because I had tried out SO many different clubs and finally one day decided on looking into these. My two friends also have these mind you, one with the standard shaft like myself (DG S300) and the other with Project X's in his that are too weak for him actually. Anyways, I went in one day and hit about 8 different types and finally asked my buddy to bring his to the range and was very pleased with them. I think it took about 3 shots in a row to say, choice is made!

It is one thing to be playing golf and enjoy it but I think when you have the equipment that allows you to do things that you haven't been able to feel/see it does make a difference and plays a factor in your confidence. I absolutely LOVE my irons.. Plus having forged irons is amazing.

I'm a big Nike shoe and clothing guys but not there golf stuff. It's not that I don't like it I just never tried it. I do like the looks of you irons though. Maybe in the spring I'll try some Nike clubs out to see how they are. I hearsd there was some guy on the PGA that can hit them good.. Tiger I think his name is...lol And whenever I look in a pro's bag it's Taylormade. Titleist and Nike.. Ping is still strong on tour also. I really wanted a set of Mizuno's but now there just like callaway making GI clubs. There new MP line looks like any other iron out tere now so hope they go back to there roots..

Oh Mizuno has PLENTY of "player irons". Trust me, MP series.. Pretty much every company has clubs for everyone.

I've been playing my AP-2's for 2 years now... still loving them. Just a great feeling iron.

I had the 710 AP2 irons and really liked them. I had been intrigued by mizuno irons so I saw a mizuno fitting center at the driving range. I asked if I could hit the mp-32 and they let me. Comparing them both back to back hitting I was hitting the mizuno irons visually higher and longer so I couldnt help it I sold the ap2's and got a brand new set of the mizunos. Come to find out a month later that demo club I used of the mizuno mp-32 had a fitting shaft on it, so it was like 2-3 inches longer than the ap2 6 iron shaft, lol. No wonder I was hitting it higher and farther! Anyway, I really love my mizunos anyway so its a good thing

just brought some ap2s with krb shafts, still waiting for them to arrive! in the custom fit though these feel amazing!

I just played my first round with AP2's.. Shot a 42 on the front with 9 two puts. I was on fire but my putting was a joke... I shot a 38 on the back nine that should have been lower also. So an 80 with many missed puts is okay for now. I love these irons and I have so much more control than my X 18's.. My littel brother who is 15 and just started playing a lot this year used them and he was smashing the ball. I think anyone who can break 100 can use these. They are not just for low handy guys. Just can't say enough about them. My brother still wants a set of MP 53's or any Mizuno iron he can swing. So I'm gonna be able to hit both clubs which is a treat..

I just played my first round with my new 710 AP2's today aswell. I played the front nine at Torrey Pines North, and the first time I ever got to hit an iron was on hole #4, where I landed my 6 iron 3 inches to the left of the cup, and ran it out about 6 feet. These irons are amazing and feel like cutting butter when you hit one flush. The V-Grooves are very different out of the rough though, but the club still feels great when you take a full cut at it. Ended up shooting 37 (+1) with a double, which is really weak. I am so happy with my clubs I can't wait until tommorow when I get to play with them again! Cheers!

Ya I feel like a kid with a new bike.. What's great is that if you miss with these clubs there still not far off. I'm getting better distance than my x's and I didn't think that was possible. These irons are like a sports car they wanna be driving hard. When you go after it they respond better.

i agree. I made a dramatic switch, as i went from senior graphite shafts with the Burner XD irons that play about a club and a half strong, so i lost a lot of distance, which i understand, and gained tons more accuracy. I think it will take me a little bit to get used to going after my irons, but i completely agree that when you go at these with a harder swing, you get better results. I am so stoked with these irons.

    • Day 21 - Good session with driver and 6i. Hitting real golf balls is quite a bit different from the foam balls, still getting used to that change.
    • There are so many videos comparing and contrasting everything that I am both overwhelmed and more than a bit skeptical. Your comments above are much more valuable than hours of you-tube videos. Generally speaking, I’d much prefer to read something that someone took the time and trouble to write (such as your comments) than a bunch of videos, or worse, meaningless reviews that seem like they are all cut and paste selections of the same script. I’m more of a RTFM type than a watcher of “instructional” videos. By way of explanation, I don’t watch TV either.  So thanks - I’ll take that under advisement. I have an H3 that I bought for $10 that I’ve been carrying around but not sure why. Seems like a cool club, but I just don’t really know what to do with it.
    • I was using the window as a mirror. Just trying to be a more aware of the feels for a better backswing. Trying to not be as closed from A1 to A2. Then not letting the club head flip inside. What I was feeling was a pressure my right wrist, and like the palm of my right hand was pushing upward against the grip of the club. My right hand was the underside of the swing path.  Going to play around with this a bit more. It looked pretty decent with mirror/window work. Just wanted to jot it down.

    • Day 249: did a stack putting session and then worked on 5 foot putts for a bit.
