Recently i have been pushing my irons recently about 10 yards on my mid iron shots here is my 7 iron, 185 yards with a 10-15 yard push. Am i moving my body too much on my swing or am i not clearing my hips too much or too little. Any help would be appreciated. There are two views in this video, If you stop it at the bottom of my down swing of my last shot ( between 1:06 and 1:07) is my shaft flexing too much? I am using a flighted X 6.5

Well there's some good things going on but it seems your hands and arms get too far out and disconnected from the body. Maybe bring them in more and stay more connected. I'm guessing when you miss its because hips and shoulders get out of sync a little.

Thanks, do you think i should should bring my hips or sholders around a little faster?

I don't really think about those things when I swing, I feel like it should happen naturally. You have a good hip move IMO, and the arms should naturally come along for the ride. I would just focus on staying connected and in sync throughout the swing. Maybe ease up just a little for more consistency.

What is it with all the bad videos out here? Please, take some time to set up the camera properly.

The shaft flex is not real, it is a result of how the camera shoot the frames.

Bad video - hard to see anything.

What I see is:
- the head is moving back around impact
- the downswing is well under the shaft plane coming way from the inside
- when you are done you tend to fall to your backside

The rest is hard to see. Just a few questions for you - might be the ones to tackle to eliminate the push:

Why are you trying to hit the ball so overly from the inside? Tried getting the shaft on the downswing when it is parallel to the ground pointing to your target? Where does it point currently?

Where does your imbalance at the finish come from? Where is your weight at impact? Are you hanging back? Tried straightening the back leg for balance and getting your weight to the front foot?

I think your solution lies in the above answers...

PS: Do you have a overly strong grip to wrestle the push to just 15 yards (0:56), where a neutral grip would send it to 30+ yards?

That's a pretty darn good golf swing! Too good for poor quality video to pick up the faults...IMHO.

    • It’s not live on free to air tv in the UK, and hasn’t been since 1995. ( I pay a subscription to Sky for generally good golf coverage). There are limited highlights on the BBC for some golf events, but that’s it. Are other/all PGA events on NBC?  Allowing ticket scalping is a systemic failure across sports and showbiz, which could be legislated against, but in the UK is not in any meaningful way. I don’t know much about the secondary market in the US or anti scalping measures.  Charging more to keep prices down is an interesting concept, in practice no doubt you are right even if It sounds a bit Catch 22  Do you think sports tickets and broadcast rights  should be sold on a purely capitalist basis, or is there an argument to say that some sports might benefit more from wider exposure and affordable access. ( golf in the US is apparently not one of these if tickets sold out at those prices so quickly)  Fans might benefit from cheaper tickets and in the UK at least, TV coverage that reaches a wider audience.

    • Day 216 (4 Dec 24) - Dink and roll Weds - working on the green side short game covering 5-10 yd chips to low running pitches to about 50 yds (I have accommodating neighbors).  Focused on keeping stance more narrow, eye target about 2” in front of the ball AND not looking up until I see the ball leave.  This drill has really enhanced my confidence in making more consistent ball strikes.
