I've been reading search results for the past 30 minutes, and might now be even more confused than before I started!

I wondering if there is a particular bounce (for a 56° wedge) that is better suited for the coarse sand we have here in Colorado? We don't have the nice fluffy stuff, it's more like decomposed granite.

Thanks!

I use two wedges here (also in CO)... a Vokey 54.11 for 95% of my bunker play, and a Cleveland CG15 56.10 for when I need the extra height to clear a lip. My normal swing in coarse or wet sand is a bit steeper than what I use in light, fluffy sand, but I don't change clubs to match the sand.

Depends on your swing. Try out different clubs to see what works for you.

I play mostly in CO. And a lower bounce seems to work best. In decent sand here I use my 56 10 and when I get in the real course stuff I use my 60 04. I have a 56 14 when traveling.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I have no idea what the bounce of my 56° is, but my 60° is 6°. I think I'll have my 56° checked to see what it is.

In course or wet conditions, less bounce is required. However, you can still get away with a medium (standard) bounce.

Im not sure of your hanidcap but, ill guess it';s around 20. I would say buy a 56* with standered bounce, you will be finding low bounce much harder as a higher handicap. In thoery low bounce is better for bunkers with less sand or more compact stuff. But I still think standered would be much better for you!

Sorry I never really said what standered is, it;s around 10-12* bounce.

You can play 14º bounce on wet, crappy sand. It's all a matter of the swing.
